Yes they take your fingerprints and photograph. You can schedule this appointment anytime after receiving the IL but before the interview. Not necessarily a day before the interview. Ones you receive your IL it will have instructions to schedule the VAC appointment. You can choose any date which is available and convenient to you .

Thank you VERY MUCH!!!! We are all eagerly waiting for that IL letter!!! and starting to get nervous that we may have missed the July boat

They are not scheduling interviews and they aren’t mailing issued passports too! This is so frustrating!

A friend says it took 3 weeks before he got his passport from them! 🙁🙁🙁

Mine is may 8 n my friend is may 3 cc

still hopeful by 20th

I really cant tell how they do the scheduling cos I had CC on April 10 then recieved IL on April 19 for May 28. I guess there might be a lot of other cases that got cc the same period you got cc. Pretty sure you'll receive IL this month

4 days for NVC to approve. 2 days for denial by Mumbai consulate

This is confusing. NVC doesn't approve expedite; it's the embassy that approves and disapproves expedite. NVC is the just the messenger. Can you elaborate on this a bit?

Probably didn't ask the right questions, but I was advised that they're still scheduling interviews and will probably be complete by next week. They were not able to advise how many slots were provided to them (not that it would help). They're working on the first part of July now. So, I'll hold out for another week, I guess.

Agree, stay positive. I suspect that some people are not updating their timelines after getting their ILs. You will see updates after they attend the interview.

There are to stages of expedite. Stage 1 : NVC expedites review of your docs. Stage 2: If your case is CC then they forward your request to Consulate.

Oh I see.  Your case doesn't have to be CC to be sent to the embassy for expedition; it can be sent even before that. The ultimate decision lies with the embassy on expedition cases because they wouldn't even need NVC to review anything if they approve of your expedition. They'll take care of the review themselves. Basically, if the embassy approves your expedite, NVC stops exactly where they are with your case and immediately forwards it to the embassy; NVC won't do any further reviews of your case.
