What happens if NVC decides our reason is not valid and disapproves the expedition request; Our normal process where NVC co-ordinates with Consulate doesn't get affected because we got the expedition request turned down right?

No matter what your case will continue to be in the queue . If the expedite request is not approved you will get an Interview as is . Let’s say you get an interview before the expedite is approved and then you’re approved , that is when the embassy will make a decision if you will keep that date or they will provide another date earlier to accommodate the expedite request .

Hi All,

Just wanted to inform everyone that my wife has finally made it to the US today, 11th June. Visa approved from Mumbai consulate, 31st May.

Thank you everyone for your help along this long (sometimes frustrating) journey, and wishing the best of luck to those waiting for their interviews now.

Immigration was quite easy - asked her basic questions, like how long have you been married etc. The only hiccup was that with the new "IV docs in CCD" stamp on the visa, there's no physical envelope to be handed over to the Immigration officer, and he was a little confused with that, so they took her to another room inside, and there once he had confirmation from another officer, they stamped her passport.

Congratulations!

May I ask how long you had to wait to get your passport back from the Mumbai consulate?

I did have a question for people who know ..

1. Now that my wife is here, do we need to wait for the actual Green Card in hand before we apply for the SSN card ? Or can we apply right away ?

2. Can we travel outside US before we get the physical card, for instance if we wanted to drive into Canada, would coming back be an issue ? Although the Immigrant Visa is valid for the next 6 months.

Thanks.

Following your journey has helped me prep for our interview scheduled at the consulate in Rio de Janeiro the 29th of next month.

No problem! It cost nothing to help the next person out. Anything else you need just let me know and i will see if i have the answer.

God bless you.
