So, are most people just bringing to the interview the things in this checklist: https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Supplemental/appt%20letter_checklist%20for%20interview.pdf  (civil documents, and tax information for 2018), or are you guys being safe and bringing everything (tax documents for 2015-2017, and anything else)?

Rather be safe than sorry with 221g when my interview comes. Bring extra. If not needed then dont give. If they ask, at least you have it.

With expedites we set our own interview appointments.  Normally NVC does that.  There were a bunch of anomalies that happened but to make a long story short, we were DQ'd on May 1 but they didn't send the petitions to Manila until May 24 and June 2.  They scheduled the interviews then realized they were expedited so cancelled the interviews.  Now I'm trying to schedule them and there are no available slots.  The calendar is supposed to come back online in July.  So the system error that held us for a month may have also delayed our interview for 2 months.

I was venting.  We just had a whole bunch of weird things happen where our expedite for school was approved but we won't interview until they are already in their 3rd month of school there so we are now deciding whether to let them finish and do the interview sometime next year since school has started and they won't be in the states before school starts here.

The expedite probably works for everyone else but we had interview dates scheduled and cancelled and now we have a few months before we know if we can get a slot.  If we didn't expedite we would be interviewing on July 12.  As it stands, we have no way of knowing when we will interview.

I am so sorry to hear this.

I know it totally sucks to wait, but maybe is better not to delay your interview until next year as you never know they might ask you for more documents (such as new tax transcripts and don’t forget that police certificates are only good for one year).

If I was you I would get this over as soon as a interview spot opens up. Your beneficiaries will still have 6 months to enter the US once the immigrant visa is approved.

They have to make POE within 6 months of medical, not visa approval. They will do medical the week of the interview so it is about the same.

I am thinking of the kids too. To start a new school in a new country after the school years starts is a very difficult thing to do.

You sure about that?

I got the pic below from the State Department website. I don’t think they issue the visa based on the date of the medical exam.....

Hopefully my experience will help someone else. We will get through it. At least all our petitions are at the Embassy waiting for the interview.

Right.

So you (well, the beneficiary) basically just walk in there with a folder of papers.  And they might ask you to see a particular one (or two or three)?

First, we have to bring everything on the checklist which we will arrange according to embassy list (for montreal, I read that they will give you your number and a checklist on how to arrange/order of document while waiting for your name to be called).  It is best to arrange everything by year. Also separate the set of documents you uploaded on CEAC.

Based on others stories, Yes.

Oh.  Well I was going to write a cover letter.  Like this below:

" Dear Embassy Officer,

Enclosed, please find the following:

A) Documents for the Petitioner, Michael Smith:
    1. Copy of Michael’s USA Passport
    2. Copy of Michael’s USA Birth Certificate
    3. Form i864, filled out by Michael
    4. Michael’s Tax Return Transcript (obtained from the IRS Get Transcript Website) from the most recent tax year (2018)
    8. Michael’s 1040 from the most recent tax year (2018)
    9. Michael’s W-2’s from the most recent tax year (2018)
    10. Michael’s Business Certificate

B) Documents for Joint Sponsor, Steven Jones:
    1. Form i864, filled out by Steven
Steven’s Tax Return Transcript (obtained from the IRS Get Transcript Website) from     the most recent tax year (2017) as sent to the NVC
    6. Steven’s 1040 from the most recent tax year (2017) as sent to the NVC
   7. Steven’s 2018 Tax Return Transcript (obtained from the IRS Get Transcript Website)
    8. Steven’s 2018 1040
    9. Steven’s 2018 W-2’s
    10. Steven’s 2019 Monthly Pay Stubs
    11. Steven’s Employment Letter (this employment letter and the above 2019 Monthly     Pay Stubs were     used to calculate his CURRENT INCOME on form i864 (108,042.48))
    12. A Notarized Copy of Steven’s Certificate of Naturalization
A Notarized Copy of Steven’s Passport Bio Page "

...So, based on what you said, this cover letter would be useless even before the beneficiary walks into the interview room, as they will ask her to reorder the documents according to their liking anyway?

I am not sure for other embassies. I was only reading reviews  for Montreal. I suggest go to the portal and look up for your embassy, read reviews of people whk have gone through interviews if they ever posted some. 🤗
