Glad San Diego knows what’s up...our local one in Washington state argued with me for quite some time and finally “did some research” and admitted they were not up to speed.  I’m glad I was over prepared.

Its better to be over prepared than not prepared at all. lol thats why visajourney is very helpful.

Wow thats quick! Congrats! I wonder how long we can have our marriage certificate here in Sacramento and i wonder if sacramento court have drive thru wedding and if they also offer photo taking since were planning to go just us two.lol Because as far as we know we have to get a schedule first. Do we need to submit marriage license also for AOS?

I got married in Sacramento and got our marriage certificate the same day, right after the wedding.  We got married in Fair Oaks.

just like what everybody mentioned, try to get your ssn and since you already know the forms you’ll need  to submit to do your AOS, I suggest you look up those forms and read each instructions on the USCIS website with regards to each form.

It looks like in Sacramento you can schedule over the phone or online, but they don't take walk-ins. In Riverside county (where we got married), you had to schedule in-person.

You need the certified copy of your marriage certificate to send with AOS. I would get 2-3 copies when you do get it, just to have extra.

Go here to get your license:http://www.ccr.saccounty.net/Marriage/Pages/ApplyForLicense.aspx

Go here to schedule your wedding: http://www.ccr.saccounty.net/Marriage/Pages/Ceremonies.aspx

Then go here after marriage to get your certified copy of your marriage certificate. Available 20 minutes after you get married in the courthouse: http://www.ccr.saccounty.net/Pages/MarriageCertificates.aspx

I called them and they said come by on a Wednesday and you can do everything in about 3-4 hours. license, ceremony, and have marriage certificate in hand. If you make an appointment even less time. They have a few offices also, so pick one close to you.

Not in Sacramento. Nearest place for a quick wedding is Reno, Nevada.

Submit a photocopy of the marriage certificate.

Photocopy is what USCIS says is required, but per the VJ recommendations I send a original certified copy with the I-485, there have been some RFE's requesting a certified original copy. For the 15.00, I would just send an original to be safe. Remember... this wont be easy, quick, or cheap...LOL😀

Reno is a good idea, I didn't even think that is only a 2-hour drive or so from Sac, and you can hit the awesome Boomtown Casino Lobster buffet for dinner... https://boomtownreno.com/famous-lobster-buffet/  right off the freeway!!!

And then you get to send the fun and exciting AOS packet... see image.333381562_AOS.jpg.3a1795afd4300f5b8880c01cf8cc5486.jpg

A photocopy of the certified copy can be sent in: https://www.uscis.gov/system/files_force/files/form/i-485instr.pdf Page 20

Bring the certified copy to the interview.

True, but also make sure you include 3 copies total. I did the original with the I-485, then copies on the EAD and AP packets and no issues so far. Just don't want this to happen to them...

Kittyanne,

If you are in Sac, I suggest asking your husband to take you to the bay area. If you go to MIlpitas, Union City or Daly City. You will see many many Pinoys there. Maybe easier to get some Pinoy food. although, i do remember there is a Filipino restaurant in Sacramento that is in a weird location. like where commercial offices are. A place where you never see restaurants. They had decent Longanesa and topsilog...

just fyi

In most states, yes.  The foreign spouse can usually complete an affidavit stating he/she does not have a SSN.  Check the county where you intend to marry for specifics.
