Also make sure to put your new married name on these forms. Unless it asks for "other names" or "maiden name".

Get SSN now then get name change after your EAD comes in. That will take about 3 months after filing.

Please note:  get a printout of the I-94.  The SSA will tell you that they won’t issue a SS# to a K-1 (bring a print out of their own office guidelines which say...”yes, you do!” And ask for a supervisor if necessary. Even though your passport is stamped with the date your I-94 expires, that isn’t enough for the SSA...it will take 3 minutes to print out the I-94 online and it will save you wasting 2 hours of your life...there is a spot on the form the SSA fills out that requires the I-94 information/number.

While you definitely should have a printout of the I-94, some SSA offices (or at least some employees) are familiar with K-1s; when we went (2nd day after POE, downtown San Diego office) they didn't have any questions about Anastasia's eligibility for an SSN. The only thing they were a little confused by was Russian naming conventions; the agent wasn't sure why her surname was -ova when her dad's was -ov.

Only took my wife 83 days to get EAD and AP approval, and we filed in February. You should already have your SS card. We went to the SS office 18 hours after arrival in Los Angeles and she was in the computer. Had her SS card 10 days later, you Definitely want to drop everything and get to the SS office, as you are already behind schedule of of things to do for AOS.

You also may want to come to Vegas to get married, it's quick and easy, and you can have your marriage certificate the next day, sometimes same day. It can take 3-4 weeks depending on county you get married in in California to get your marriage certificate. So I would check on that also. Do the drive thru wedding for 80 bucks, or 125 with photos included. You can fill out all the information online before you get to the marriage license bureau also, you can have your license in less than 10 minutes.

Here on a K1? Need married and a Certificate in hand within a few hours? I'm here to help. Come to Vegas and I'll marry you Vegas style!!   Visa Journey members are always FREE for my services. I know the costs involved in this whole game of immigration, and if I can save you some money I will!

is the I-94 is the 90 days? The immigration officer in my port of entry didnt give me a form like I-94..only a stamp on my passport with stamp date and written date.. i dont know if the written date is expiration date.. but it falls into the 90 days..

so the form for work permit is I-765 that i dont have to pay.

https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/#/home and then choose get most recent I-94 form  and add the name, date of birth, passport number, and country of passport issuance..

Did the EAD expedite request help? Or is that not known?

I don't think it really helped at all. I was in the process of requesting the expedite, but just finished sending the proof for the expedite on  a Friday , as I had to Fax everything in, and then received approval for EAD/AP in the mail the following Monday? 1- no way they work that fast on an expedite request. 2- Received both EAD and AP approval at the same time. Normally if you request to expedite EAD or AP, they will only do one or the other, I didn't request an expedite for the AP card, but received it at the same time, so it is my opinion that the expedite request didn't help at all as I never received anything saying it was approved or denied or anything. Probably when they got around to it they saw it had already been issued and just threw my request out. Funny thing is we have had the card for a month now, and the online status still hasn't updated.

Glad San Diego knows what’s up...our local one in Washington state argued with me for quite some time and finally “did some research” and admitted they were not up to speed.  I’m glad I was over prepared.

Wow thats quick! Congrats! I wonder how long we can have our marriage certificate here in Sacramento and i wonder if sacramento court have drive thru wedding and if they also offer photo taking since were planning to go just us two.lol Because as far as we know we have to get a schedule first. Do we need to submit marriage license also for AOS?
