I was also in an abusive relationship, years ago. Please don't stay with this man! Trust my advice because the abuse only gets worse, not better. It is something the abuser can't control. Perhaps some therapy can help, but it did not for my ex, who took anger management classes but still ended up beating up the girlfriend after me (she called me crying). Perhaps your partner needs you now because of the greencard, so chances are that he will become even more abusive after he gets what he wants. His immigration status is not your problem. Let him deal with it, you seem to have done enough for him already. Be strong and get support from friends and family.

I wish you all the best and take care.

Hun..my heart goes out to you. After reading your responses...I hate to tell you, but you are fooling yourself into thinking he "SEEMS" genuine. Of course he does...he's scared to death of being deported. After everything he has done to you...you would be better off without him. I'm sorry to say....Love does not hurt that way. Love does not abuse in any shape or form. He will always have that intimidation factor now on you. You need to leave before you get hurt worse.

I'm not going to lie to you and say..."Oh yes, counseling is the best thing..work it out..stay with him"....when he doesn't deserve a second chance. My fiance actually has cried when I told him what my ex husband put me thru in the past.....he said, "You're too good of a person to be hurt that way....and promised me that he is not like that..nor would he ever hurt me in any way like that." My fiance showed true remorse....and he wasn't even the one that hurt me. I agree with the above statement hun....Count your losses..and move on. There is someone out there worth your love, your heart, your devotion....and they won't hurt you either. Don't feel bad if you end the marriage and he gets deported. Just be honest with yourself. Also...contact the USCIS and let them know should you decide to leave the marriage. Hunny..he's not worth it...and I'd hate to see him use you just to stay in the US.

Since has abused you..that would need to come up in the divorce. That will be your reason for divorce. He will not be entitled to anything monetary wise...being that you have only been married for a short time.

Best of luck to you..and keep us posted.
