As our 1 year old male cat tears through the house like a mad thing - I don't think we'll be getting any more. 2 is more than enough - got both from the Pasadena Humane Society.

How did you move them to NJ? Drive or fly?

We got our cats from the CPL and the RSPCA here in the UK. Shelter kitties rock!

Are you bringing your cats to the USA with you, H_A?

I have five cats, seeing as it is Adopt a Cat month in June, I may just HAVE to get another couple.... (don't let the hubby read this!)

Yep, though we're not sure how we're going to do it since it's too warm this time of year to put them in the cargo hold.

If you can persuade someone to fly over with you and your husband, you can take one each in the cabin with you (depending on airline).

Awww, I'm sorry, Ionescu; must be awful for you. My only female cat, Sassy, has been at the vets overnight being spayed. I'm missing her like crazy and am about to go and pick her up in a few minutes.

Can't imagine how much worse it must be for you. :(

Hubby is allergic to cats as well, but we do have one. He rather take one pill a day and have the cat than not having one.

Yea, i know how your feeling. i remember when i had cocoa declawed, the overnight stay he had almost killed me. And when he went into kidney failure (bad urine infection and didnt know :( ) i stayed overnight with him while he went thru surgery. Those times are nothing compared to now :( i only see him on weekends now. feel like im in a custody agreement until i can pay the child support

Ive had cocoa for 5 yrs, even took him with me when i moved to Romania to be with ed before we were married. Hes like my son.

The other day, i stayed home sick from work, and after the dr i drover over to my moms to see how she was bc shes sick too, and i dont have a key so i rang the bell, and cocoa came to the door and as soon as he heard me calling him he was meowing like crazy and slapping the glass part of the door and i couldnt get in to pet and hold him. i cried the whole way home. mom was asleep so i never got in

ok enough of me :D

We flew - cost around $200 - $300 to move them (including baggage fare, and veterinary paperwork). Our youngest cat (the male) was only a kitten then. Was expecting the inside of the boxes to be sprayed with vomit and faeces at the other end - but they seemed handle the flight pretty well. Frankie (the female) was terrified, but Oscar who was a kitten then - was purring as soon as his box came off the conveyor. Doesn't have much of a sense of fear that cat.
