Hopefully VJ will still be operational when the visa number becomes current.

Hey, I was an F3 beneficiary. Trust me, absolutely nothing happens except an approval letter sometime in the next few years, and then nothing again till it’s close to priority date. You will lose interest in this thread pretty soon ;)

I have a petition filed for my brother too. With all the changes with the trump administration- do you worry that this category will get taken away ?

Under the build America plan that trump is proposing he plans to remove immigration of family categories which include parents and siblings. He had appointed a new acting chief to head the USCIS and wonder if he plans to implement changes under that

And what would be required to change such a law? F4 requires you to be a US Citizen so can be expected to know that.

Immigration reform which includes removing certain categories, like sibling and parent petitions, has been proposed way before Trump even announced his candidacy for President. It dates back a few presidents. It is nothing new. Like somebody already said, it has been talked about for a while. We know it is going to happen, but nobody knows when. It may happen next year or in 10 years.

I think our part is to take action from our side. Don't worry about what they might do.  Also, I think once we file - USCIS  will mostly process it. If we are eligible to file and want to file - file it and hope for the best.

My siblings file reached in May 2019 ending and I got the notice from USCIS so I did my part. Now,  whatever happens, will wait and see.

I filed my petition for my brother who is in the Philippines. Processing time is approximately 21 years for us.

I got an e-mail today saying that my petition for my brother is approved. I know the NVC will take a very long time to give my brother a visa number.
