Hi Tighfield

As for the instructions packet,  you will be asked to prepare followings. But depending on which embassy you are receiving the packet, it may differ some docs.

1. DS-160 & Profile

2. Assemble Documents and fee (Police certificate, photos, Affidavit of Support, Medical exam report, etc)

3. Make an Appointment after all docs are prepared)

I believe you’d better check the interview checklist for your embassy homepage.

Thanks Kamkiri. She is living in Tokyo. So she will have interview in Tokyo. I don't know any steps different with Viet Nam or not. But she already have Police certificate of Japan, Viet Nam And waiting police certificate of Singapore . l just dont know does she have to wait till she get packet 3 then pay fee and book interview ?

Your flag from your profile should depict the embassy from which you will interview from. Since your's said Vietnam, I offered the P3 for Vietnam.  Please change you profile so we don't waste our time answering questions based on an embassy that you will not be interviewing at. Thanks.

Now here is the information for Japan.

Japanese thread with discussion on what to do to attain your visa from Japan.

If you find anything not up to date or the information is wrong, please share your findings. Please compare the date of the P3 of mine with the date from your copy, once you receive yours from your embassy. Keep in mind that I try and be factual with my information, but I can't do it on my own and that's where you come in and can give back to the community those who come behind you. Without others ahead of you I would not be able to provide this to you.  I can only share factual information if folks like you continue to be my eyes and ears for your embassy. I wish you much success in your visa journey.

Hi @Greenbaum! Thank you! I already called the NVC 4 days ago, he gave me our case # and invoice ID.  He also told me that they just received our Petition from USCIS on the 10th of October. How long it usually takes for them to transfer it to the USEM? Thank you! :)

A few days after the ship date. Shipping dates are in the PDF from the link below. Based on my calculations I believe your file will ship Oct 29/30. So the second week of Nov it should be ready at USEM.

Hi @Greenbaum haven't seen you in a while. Hope all is ok. So little background

Sept 20th fiance had her K1 interview. Recieved a 221G for no reason. No additional docs needed. Just to wait to for an email. They gave back her passport and canceled her tourist Visa which I understand you can not have two visas.

Been on AP since then with one update on 10/11/19 then another update on 10/17/19 and once again today 10/18/19 so I'm assuming they are working on the case which is a good thing. I know AP is just a wait game so wait it is.

Been away while treating cancer but I feel better now and I am cancer free.

There are a number of different steps in the last days before the embassy issues the visa.

When the Embassy is ready to issue a visa, it will change to "Nonimmigrant Visa Application"; at that time, you will know that you are a few days away from getting the visa. It will go from "Immigrant Visa Application" to "Nonimmigrant Visa Application" status and then your visa changes to "Ready" ==> "Administrative Processing" ==>> "Issued" status as well. These steps sometimes transpire over a day or even a few days. Some smaller Embassy's it happens within hours.

Sometimes, it might skip "Administrative Processing" and go from "Ready" to "Issued".

it has been a while since i posted here (gathering documents, making plans)....So I am happy to say,  that as of october 16th my fiancee's k1 visa was approved (us embassy bogota) :D. We are extremely happy and I just wanted to share our result.  Once that packet is sent out, things go so quickly (almost too quickly).

It is super helpful to have all of your papers ORGANIZED and easily searchable because they asked for certain papers on the spot and the whole process at this particular embassy was very streamlined.

As for the actual interview, I did attend with her and they even asked me some questions (to my surprise). but everything went very good. Best of luck to those who are still left in this thread that need to have their interview.

So Fiance called Juarez consulate and they told her that they sent out the instructions via DHL to send in her passport. So She did today and hope we get it stamped and sent back soon. Its all moving along now. Hopefully initial AP is done. #progress

Status moved pretty fast today, from AP to received to issued in matter of hours. Now just waiting for them to mail it. @Greenbaumonce again thank you for all your help and advice throughout this process. Two main things to remember mileage may vary and lots and lots of patience. Happiest day of this process so far.

Usually you will not receive the P3 letter in the mail. Do an online service request. They will respond typically in 2 -3 days with the instruction (P3). You will need to submit D-160 and pay the visa fee, then schedule the medical afterward. Technically, you will need the P3 to complete the medical exam, although some have gotten by with just the interview confirmation. I wouldn't risk it and would just request that they email it to you via: https://vn.usembassy...a-inquiry-form/  When using the form be sure to add in the comments section the last 4 digits of your SSN or they will email you back asking for it which causes further delays.

Here is some information including the Embassy P3 for you to get a head start

P3 Letter

I have sent for the P3 (which we received in the mail-more than 2 weeks after). Can I still do an online service request for the P4? How long does it usually take from the time we have emailed the P3 checklist. I am just worried that the appointment times will not be available until february 2020.

** I just also want to check the available times for the appointment, but when I log into appointment site, it asks for VISA CLASS. I dont see a K1 VISA option.

There is no packet four P-4. Here are the instructions contained in the P-3 for VN. Please closely follow the instructions to schedule your interview.

You should NOT schedule an appointment until you have received the Instruction Package Letter (PKT3 - K). Failure to do so may delay your visa processing. Please follow the instructions on: http://bit.ly/k1schedule to schedule your appointment. After you have scheduled an appointment online, you will be able to print out the Appointment Confirmation Sheet. Note: You must use a valid and most updated DS-160 Bar-code Number when you schedule your appointment. If you use an invalid DS-160 Bar-code Number, your appointment will NOT be accepted.

I haven't schedule an interview for many years but I suspect is that you chose the non-immigrant selection and not the immigrant which a K-1 is processed as till the embassy is ready to release your visa then it reverts to non-immigrant. A K-1 is actually a non-immigrant with immigration intentions.

Hello Greenbaum! I have read through the PDF you provided and it has been very helpful! However, unfortunately I am confused as to how to submit my e-mail to receive notification from NVC...sry for having to ask for further directions but what page of the PDF is it on? (I have not been able to find it)
