Finally I received the instructions packet from the US embassy today!!

I’m able to request a Police certificate to Singapore finally as I do not know how long it takes....

Does anyone know about SSN part on DS-160?

When I was studying the US, I had a SSN. However, since I lost the card and I don’t remember the number anymore, I don’t know what to input. Should I input “ does not apply” as there is no “ Do not know”?

Appreciate your help to advise.

As with any answer to a process like this it should be taken seriously and not brushed of as "does not apply" when in fact it does apply. Do you still have any documents from school that may have your SSN. Have you tried to registering on the SS website. Did you file any income tax that you may still have copies which surely will show your SSN. If all else fails, it's on the phone to SS and ask how you can get a new card and the number.

@Greenbaum Do you have a copy of P3 for India ? :)

Here is the letter that you will receive from Mumbai Embassy. Read it over carefully and follow the instructions. Another member of VJ added some additional information contained below which outlines what he experienced.

https://photos.state.gov/libraries/mumbai/1057584/senkx/BMB%20IV%20Packet%204%20for%20Ks%20January%202015%20Revision_001.pdf

Once you received your case number from NVC,  I would recommend you fill out DS-160 form and submit. Some say the packet 3 letter is nothing just waste of time same thing they have mention which you easily get from USCIS website when you called to the clinics to book your medical appointment date they will ask you have you received your packet letter or not. Just say yes and booked the appointment date however you will receive that letter within 2 weeks the day you will get your NVC number.

Go on USCIS website make your account with password and then pay your fees to Citibank or Axis bank. They will give you reference number. With that number you can book your biometric and interview appointment date. The fees are 18,500 and for medical but I recommend that you carry 20,000 with you in the event you need more. Be sure to  keep at least 7 days gap between medical and interview.

The website address for Hyderabad is

https://www.migrationmedicine.com/ just in case if someone needs

Here is a topic in another forum where those from the Mumbai Consulate are applying with good information.

Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

Thanks

@Greenbaum is correct about everything, though my experience has been that p3 is mainly i129 form that you originally submitted with big Approved stamp on top, which u do need it at the time of medical.

@Sachinmayer Thank you! So should we start filling the ds 160 and start looking to get an appointment to do medical? or is it better to wait to get p3 and start looking for appointment dates?

Do your 160 form, pay your dues at the bank, make your interview appointment as they are about 50 days out. And do your medical when you get your p3, as you can get medical appointment few days in.

what state are you in ?

@Sachinmayer Okye, i think i will start with ds160 form. It also looks like we have to get 2 different appointments in Mumbai, one for the interview and the other for finger printing, is that true? I live in Maryland and my fiancee is from Kerala. How about you?

I’m in California, and Fiance in Punjab.

both appointments will be set together on site. Also biometric does not have to be in Mumbai, it could be done at any location , if any closer to you.

Meanwhile congratulations to everyone whose scheduling or have completed their interviews..however I got this (picture below) in the email today (yay progress)...

The only thing testing my patience and rose heightened concern is that DHL still showing zilch when I search cases to the Bahamas.

I have patience but when the only evidence you have right now is the CEAC website showing in transit for 17 days and absolutely no other resource it’s really playing mind games with me. I will continue to monitor the process as I just wanted to seek any information possible and to update if anyone is going through what I’m going through.

Humor: 17 days ? No I don’t live in space! The Bahamas is only 3 hours away from the NVC (by plane of course)

DHL (if anyone would like to try)

I like I've stated before, the DHL is a hack which means it may work and may not. It's not an official step in this process that NVC provides and therefore fruitless to complain.

You still have a ways to go i hope your sanity holds a bit more.
