It shouldn't. . .😉

Per my post above -

They told me that as well, but then asked what type of visa I was applying for. When I said “K1”, the response he gave me was “oh, those are processed much faster, call back again next week to check on a case #”.

Call again next week and good luck!

Thank you and good luck to you as well!

Ah well, you never know, but I think they are trying to cover their back in case things wouldn't go quickly.

If they tell you it might be 8 weeks and in the end you will have waited 5 business days, won't you be pleasantly surprised? I guess better than the other way around!

My case arrived at the NVC yesterday as well, so let's hope we get a case nr by the end of the next week, deal? ;) Well, I'm gonna call them tomorrow, coz you never know...

I agree, always better to under promise and over deliver.  Hoping for good news for all of us soon!

Calling the NVC to ask whether I already do have a case number or not (the latter is the case) I spoke to a very friendly lady, so I asked a few more questions:

Q: I understood there are scheduled days on which the case files are being sent to the respective US embassies?

A: After a case number has been issued, the case file will be sent to the embassy whenever the embassy has room for a new case.

Q: Is there any way to tell whether a K-1 visa will be processed faster or slower than other types of visas?

A: No.

Q: Is there any other way to get my case number, other than calling this NVC number, such as email?

A: No.

I know that these answers don't guarantee anything, but I wanted to share this anyway. I thought it was interesting to hear there's no shipments schedule, as opposed to the info in the PDF. (I don't mean to undermine info provided by @Greenbaum, just sharing what I were told)

Good luck to everybody who have been waiting for their case numbers!

"Life is a journey." At this moment, it's taking me to the USA to the woman I love.

Others have called and not been provided shipping schedules. NVC takes that same position with others as you have received.  Nothing new here.

You can get a case number by email once its assigned.  Nothing new here.

They will never tell you how they adjudicate cases. Nothing new here.

So, what did we learn that we already knew?

I did my DS160 as soon as it left NVC. Then waited 5 days and scheduled our interview. You will need the letter present to make you medical appt. But dates were 2 months out so I scheduled it knowing i would have the letter by then. Just FYI medical exams have to be done in Juarez too and you should allow 2 to 3 days prior to the interview to be sure you get results back in time for the interview.  Best of luck

Apparently they are now 4 months out. I tried to schedule yesterday, but the only thing showing is December and I am unable to schedule since there are no appointments at the ACS in Chihuahua. 😑   I'm scheduling under nonimmigrant correct?

I'm a bit confused about PACKET 3 and PACKET 4, as I'm reading at random places that neither are not being sent out, but i'm confused at the same time about what they exactly have in the packet. should I wait for it to come or whats going to happen next. Here on VJ i have seen a sample letter, I believe is a packet 3, which shows documents to bring to interview. I did made the appointment for interview and the second page shows very similar list of documents and direction to follow to bring.

My friend who came to US last year showed me that he received a copy of form I-129 with top part of first page filled out and a big approved stamp on it.

Can someone please help with explaining the packets and if they are still being sent out.

🙏

Hey all, so quick question, reviewing the sample p3 for my country and on the check list it lists items such as birth certificate, court records, military records etc - are these for me(beneificary) only or should my ucs fiance submit his also (we already submitted court records/us birth certificate etc with the original petition) but he did serve in the military when he was younger but not anymore - will they want his military records for when I do the interview?

Any help will be much appreciated - just trying to ensure we have all paperwork in order for when we get sent the P3.

Hi all,

My fiancé called NVC yesterday and finally got our case #!!

The officer told him that our case # was assigned last week, but unfortunately we missed the shipping date this week. 😫

Does anyone help me to understand which date NVC assigned our case #? I already checked the table but would like to make sure if my understanding is correct.

My last numbers are “003”. Does it mean date : 3rd?

Appreciate your help in advance!

You will find the formula for determining the date the NOA2 was assigned by accessing the PDF and toward the end of the document instructions and tables are used their to help you.

The items on the P3 are concerning the beneficiary unless stipulated they be submitted by the petitioner.

Once you receive the P3 letter from your embassy could you share a copy with me as I use it to pay forward to others who come behind you. I have most but I do not have anything from your embassy. Thanks.

Be careful with scheduling your medical to far out from the interview as your visa validity is only valid for 6 months and that date is determined when you complete the medical exam and not the interview.
