They told me that as well, but then asked what type of visa I was applying for. When I said “K1”, the response he gave me was “oh, those are processed much faster, call back again next week to check on a case #”.

I would try next week as well, you might  be quite surprised!

Will certainly call them the day after tomorrow 😉

What does: "Shipment picked up" mean? That the case has just been received and that soon it will be go unto the air?

I believe so - that the shipping company DHL picked up the package and will be moving it to wherever the next place is.

When I use that link it asks for an Invoice ID number that I don't have... is that related to the DS-160? When I search under the  immigrant VIsa application status it says that it is ready and we can schedule an appointment for the interview but have gotten nothing else since the email stating that our forms were being forwarded to the Consulate. I'm not sure if we missed something we are supposed to do or need to just continue waiting. I've just noticed that others got their P3's last week and we haven't heard a peep.

The invoice ID that you are referring to is either the WAC#, case number or DS-160 confirmation number. You need to go to ceac.state.gov and use immigrant to find your status and then enter one of those numbers. Let us know what it says and we can advise you what to do next.

It means just what it says, the shipment has been picked up by the shipping company (DHL) and is on its way ("unto the air") to the final destination. Your Embassy.

Thank you, Greenbaum! When I look up my status it says "Ready", that it was last updated on July 22, and that we can schedule an interview at any time and to prepare our documents as instructed in our appointment letter, which we have not yet received. We haven't yet filled out the DS-160 because my understanding was that didn't need to be completed until we are ready to turn in P3 (We will be together later this week and are going to complete it then). Like I said, my biggest concern is that we somewhere skipped something since we still haven't received P3. I also was reading that P3 is sent via email, but my fiancee's email has not been documented anywhere, only his physical address.

Hi all, I’m not sure if I’m needlessly concerned but wanted to just get clarification. I’ve been trying to keep up with the thread but am sure I’ve missed some, so sorry if this is repeat. We got our case number and were notified that it was sent to the consulate on July 9th.... still no packet 3. I’m confused about whether it is going to just automatically be sent to my fiancée or if there is a step in between. Does the DS-160 need to be filled out before P3 is sent?

Here is a little help. Read the links and follow the directions.

[If you find anything not up to date or the information is wrong, please share your findings. Please compare the date of the P3 of mine with the date from your copy, once you receive yours from your embassy. Keep in mind that I try and be factual with my information, but I can't do it on my own and that's where you come in and can give back to the community that comes behind you. Without others ahead of you I would not be able to provide this to you.  I can only share factual information if folks like you continue to be my eyes and ears for your embassy. I wish you much success in your visa journey. ]

You can't hurry it along at all. You have to wait for P3 which takes 2-4 weeks from Ready. Comply with what they ask for in P3 (the actual one they send you) by sending them a copy of the signed P3 checklist, your DS-160 confirmation and your Passport Bio. Then they send you P4. Then they tell you to register to schedule and you'll wait some more for interviews to open up, which only happens once a month during the last week of the month for two months ahead UNLESS you are lucky and you scoop up a cancellation. Get your medical appointment first so you can schedule the interview shortly afterwards.

Packet 3: https://ca.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/27/2016/07/Packet3Instructions-K1.pdf  And Packet 4 for reference also: https://ca.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/27/2016/03/Packet4-MTL.pdf

For all things dealing with the US Consulate in Canada head on over to the sub-forum for Canada where they will answer your questions for the processing of your visa from their personal experience. Link:

Birth Certificate and Police Certificate information

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aa5iWVtFniXGWavXN0zs-94dewD2Fdfy/view?usp=sharing

Here is some additional information. As was stated in the Canadian sub-forum there is an "emergency order" application in Ontario. You need the birth cert that is CERTIFIED COPY OF BIRTH REGISTRATION that has the parents name. You don't want the "parental cert" that is a wallet sized one with parents names but no place of birth, doctors who attended birth etc. The parental one is for parents travelling with kids to prove custody in an easy to use/travel with format. Hope this clears up your question. CALL the registrar and tell them you need to do an emergency application otherwise you will be waiting 15+ weeks. Absolutely the long form is a required LIVE document needed at the interview or you'll get rejected.  I hope this info is helpful and best of luck.

In case you're doing the medical in Vancouver: Dr. Cheema requires you to schedule the interview first in order to book the medical.

Routine vaccinations such as MMR, Tetanus, Flu Shots, etc are offered free of charge in the province of Ontario. Patients can walk into any health care clinical or family physician office and receive these immunizations for free.  it would be better to go and get your vaccinations free of charge rather than pay any additional fees at these the medical exams.

My paperwork left NVC yesterday and today CEAC status is showing as ready so I guess we are good to go whenever my fiance does the DS160. Do you if there is expiration on the medical exams? We are driving through Juarez next month and it would be nice if he just do it then instead of having to drive up twice in a couple of days.

The DS-160 can be completed at any time up to the interview. You will need the confirmation page to show the CO at your interview. Medical is good for 6 months BUT be careful you are not too soon because if you don't get an interview for 4 months you just burned through 4 months of the visa validity. The visa validity is tied to the medical exam date. This could be a problem, it could not but I post what is the worst case that could happen.

Thank you for the links. I previously read over most of them, but it sounds like we need to not worry that we haven't yet received P3. We have both checked spam folders for email and there's nothing there, so I'm thinking it may just not have been sent yet.

My status has been on  ready since July 4 and still no p3. I think at our embassy p3 and p4 is an all in one? Anyway, I’m planning a vacation with my fiancé for end of August but can’t finalize anything because we don’t know even our appointment date is. Should I just email the embassy and ask?

Ah well, you never know, but I think they are trying to cover their back in case things wouldn't go quickly.

If they tell you it might be 8 weeks and in the end you will have waited 5 business days, won't you be pleasantly surprised? I guess better than the other way around!

My case arrived at the NVC yesterday as well, so let's hope we get a case nr by the end of the next week, deal? ;) Well, I'm gonna call them tomorrow, coz you never know...
