IN TRANSIT!!!! Thank you for answering our dumb questions, @Greenbaum!!! :)

Preach! I still remember myself right at the very beginning of this whole thing, panicky & fidgety as hell asking questions left & right about everything 🤣

I've always commended @Greenbaum for not losing his haha.

Have you tried calling them?  They issued my case number just 3 days after they received it.  Hope you get an update soon!

I'm going to call this morning.

For others out there who have used the CEAC website to check their status at the NVC, did you put in your receipt number starting with "WAC", or did you need an actual case number that I'm guessing is different than the receipt number?

Hang in there! I am at day 32, called NVC today and they still haven't received my case.

Thanks and good luck to you as well!

So it isn't as cut and dry as getting a case number based on dates of the NOA2...

Well, I think the whole process is a mystery, coz I have seen timelines with NOA2 being 6 weeks after NOA1 and the NVC receive 2 weeks after NOA2....and all that while the date of filing was like month behind mine. So people who filed much later already are further in this process...I don't think it's necessarily unfair, coz I wish them well, but of course I'd like my case to move faster, too.

You need the case number from the NVC inorder to be able to check your status on the CEAC website. So the receipt nr won't do (I tried😇)

A case number is assigned and given out by the NVC (note that your case must have firstly arrived at the NVC for a case number to be subsequently assigned)

This number would be the one that you use to track your case status on the CEAC website.

Good luck!

Indeed, it's not.

The experienced (Greenbaum) say we should wait 6 weeks before calling the NVC. On the other hand, some people got their case nr sooner than that and they got it by calling NVC daily. I guess one just really can't tell ;) So do whatever you feel comfortable doing.

I'll try to relax and "wait patiently" and will call the NVC next week friday, because that's when they will have had those 6 weeks, so they better start doing sth! 😜

Great info - thanks!

It is a big mystery.  I guess it's possible that depending on the complexity of the case, it could take longer than average.

I tried sending them an online request to get updated on the status, but they just stated that my case wasn't received yet and to check back after it has been 6 weeks.

I'm a little frustrated as well, but I guess I shouldn't be since I have been using my receipt number to check.  It sounds like the only way to know is by calling today to find out the status.

The waiting paitently thing hasn't been working for me 🤣.  It's five weeks for me as of today, but I have yet to call the NVC.

The closer we get, the more excited we are!

Its just like analytics, you throw out the high and low and score the others. There only one guarantee in this process and that is you'll get a yes or no answer. Otherwise its a crapp shout when something will be completed.

Your mileage may vary.

For me neither, hence the quotes ;)

Well, calling is not the only way to know, but it's the fastest way. The other option is to wait until the embassy contacts you, but that will happen only after they received your case, so after it was processed by the NVC and left the NVC, meaning it will take longer till you first heard something.

Having you case nr already comes handy if you want to track this process and not just wait till you hear from the embassy. You can see when your case left the NVC and when it arrived to the embassy. Ideal for the impatient ones ;)
