This might be a silly question but I’m starting to prepare the I-134 letter of support and have some concerns. I’m the only adult in my household (no kids or family to support) and made about $22,000 in 2018 , $11,000 in 2017 and $70,000 in 2016. In between years I did change jobs and now in my current job have been there since December 2018, I work fully commission and am projected to make around $50,000 this year (I already made $25,000 in the past 6 months).

My concern is - Do I meet the income requirements or should I be looking for a co sponsor ?

Looking at your figures I would say that would be a prudent move on your part to at least assemble a plan B!

4 years, 11 months, 2 weeks and 3 days

Citizenship Complete!

USCIS is like a box of chocolates, you never know what kind of answer you are going to get!!!!

They are looking for steady income, the potential to earn more and where your currently at. All those questions can be answered if you use the following as your guide.

EVIDENCE OF SUPPORT. You should be able to demonstrate that you will not become a public charge or be a burden on the U.S. taxpayers for financial support. A completed I-134 Affidavit of Support Form (https://www.uscis.gov/i-134) K1/K2 Interview Preparation Instructions – English (February 2014)  Page 3 of 9 with an original signature will be useful to the consular officer to evaluate your petitioner’s ability to be financially responsible for you. You should also submit your petitioner’s most recent U.S. Federal income tax return (Form 1040) and wage statements (Form W-2). Employment letters stating salaries and bank statements may be included to substantiate the I-134. Get the IRS transcript in place of the actual 1040 here: https://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript Use this link to determine the income levels needed https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p.

Check your income requirements for your family size using  the link from above. If at or above then you should be fine.

Does anyone know how easy/difficult/horrible an idea it would be to have to switch the intended embassy for the interview at this stage?

My Beneficiary may have to unexpectedly travel to another country(South America-not sure the country- from Norway) for a few months for his current job.

Does anyone know how the process would change or become more complicated if his address changed to a country pretty far from his current one?

It can be done but the first requirement is to have been living in the new location for six months. You're better off to fly back for the medical and interview unless you have the time to put in to meet the requirements from the new embassy.

That's what I thought, thank you very much!
He may not even have to go, but I wanted to ask just in case.. but even if he has to go, the difference in the rent will probably pay for the plane ticket anyway 😄

Haha. I was a bit nervous. I just wanted to ask about a letter missing from a middle name on a birth certificate that differs to passport/driving license/police certificate (all of which have the same spelling with the extra letter, the name that is considered correct). I don’t know how it could happen/how it could go unnoticed but would it be a problem? If so how to go about correcting it before the interview! Thank you in advance ☺️

It's a small bit of information that missing so I wouldn't worry. I'd suggest you get the BC corrected so it doesn't interfere with anything else.

Thank you! ☺️ I’ll try do that ASAP. I was thinking if it’s not possible to correct then perhaps doing a Deed Poll (name change) but just changing it so it has the extra letter in the middle name.

Don't get crazy with this. Its minor. Repair the BC and move on.
