Is it worth it for me to go and make copies of the documents I've been gathering for my interview next week?

I mean my police record, my military record, my birth certificate, etc. I can't make copies of the medical file since the doctor put it all in a sealed envelope. But besides that, I keep seeing it's good to make copies of everything... I'm just not sure about the interview. I mean, I'm bringing originals with me in a big folder. Will they keep those originals or just ask to see them? If they keep them I can understand the usefulness of keeping copies for myself. Otherwise... why bother?

Thank you for any help :)

It is always good to have copies to give them to keep if they want to keep a copy. The police cert is only needed for the interview so they can keep the original.

Have a couple of certified copies of birth cert, so that you can have it when you do move to the USA for future uses.

Fair enough.

I'll keep that in mind about the birth certificate. How do I go about obtaining a certified copy of anything, however? The section of my country's government which is in charge of that ####### does not deliver copies and it's about $25 for every certificate I need. I'm not too bothered about that sort of expense if it's necessary but if certified copies will do, then what the hell... but I still have no clue how to obtain one of those! :-p

A certified copy is just another birth cert generated by your government, Yep another $25 for it.
BIRTH CERTIFICATE

Available. Birth certificates available to persons born in Switzerland are known and issued by local cantonal officials as listed below:

1.German speaking Switzerland: Geburtsschein; Zivilstandsbeamter.

2. French speaking Switzerland: Acte de naissance; Officier de l'Etat Civil.

3.Italian speaking Switzerland: Atto di nascita; Ufficiale dello Stato Civile.

Records are complete since 1876. Previous to 1876, records were kept by church authorities and are available for all living persons.

Okay then, that makes sense :)

In that case I'll just request it when the need comes up. It's very easy to obtain, so we'll see. Thanks for the help!
