I asked in the other forum area about moving to usa but the responses seem rather sluggish so I thought I would quickly ask here.

When signing up for temporary visitor health insurance (We are going with Patriot America Plus through IMG), when filling out the application and it asks for Government Issued ID number that is the National Insurance Number correct?

No it’s the passport number. An NHS number is not an ID.

sweet thank you, I am actually really surprised at how cheap it is to get decent visitor insurance during that gap time before married and can get on with spouses benefits, for 1m in coverage for 64 days would be a total of 202$, I was expecting a lot more for temp health insurance with that kind of maximum, oh and 0$ deductible

That is a great price!

It does not cover that much, basically emergency cover with caveats.

I looked into it pretty extensively and it covers basically all normal health costs, and everything else that could be an issue, seems really good from what I have read, cover basically all that could be a daily disturbance, small co-pay for doctor visit, Rx help, and plenty more.

Also another question about Passport number and Gov't Issued ID number being the same thing:

I filled in the application and got the insurance using her passport number and all is good, and just for a little post making sure I just googled to make sure that gov't issued ID Number and passport number are the same thing and got this page with these results saying they aren't the same thing, which confuses me a little bit.

https://www.quora.com/Is-an-ID-number-and-a-passport-number-the-same

I am a little confused about why they are saying they aren't the same thing, we used the passport number for her temporary health insurance application and all went through fine, just making sure we were to use her Passport Number and not her National Insurance Number back home from the UK?

Also, maybe someone here will know if not I will need to do a little bit more digging but if we decide to continue on and get Patriot America Plus again after this first time period of insurance is used, can we sign up for the Temporary insurance again?  Figured this out yes you can, you can apply for a new amount of short term health insurance.

I have read a lot of discussion about travel insurance not actually paying anything when they find out you are an immigrant, not a tourist. I don't really know what you bought and if it's different than travel health coverage. Maybe @yuna628 will weigh in. She's the insurance expert.

Yes, I'm wondering the same. When I looked into it, it is for non-residents in US. If you come in on a K1, you aren't coming in as a visitor, right?

You are correct, travel insurance doesn't cover people who aren't returning back to their original "home" country, I got Patriot America Plus which is a temporary visitors insurance, that covers individuals working on immigrating to the United States, it's not a "Travel Insurance", so from what I have seen yes this plan perfectly works for K-1 Visas.

This is one of the pages I used for information on which type of health insurance plan can be used for K1 visa holders

Before this thread get's too much more in depth, @yuna628 just for clarification on the passport number being what is needed for the Government Issued ID number.

Thanks so much in advance for anyone who can give some clarity on this, trying to find it online, but seems kinda wishy washy to get a straight answer.
