Recent B2 Visa Experiences?

My wife would like her parents to visit the U.S. next year.  Does anyone have any recent experiences with B2 visas in Vietnam?  I understand they need to prove they will only stay in the U.S. temporarily.  They are in their 60s, own their home, and her father has a good job and is active in their neighborhood.  They will be leaving 3 adult children and a grandchild behind in Vietnam.  We'll provide more definite dates for arrival and departure when applying or for the interview . . . whenever it is needed.

How long does it take to receive a B2 after submitting the DS-160?  We want them to visit next summer (July or August 2020), so we don't want to apply too soon, but also want to make sure there is enough time for processing and interview.

I have the USCIS pamphlet on B1 and B2 visas.  It doesn't mention anything about medical exams or vaccines.  Can we assume this isn't a requirement?  Is it simply: apply, submit photo and payment, interview, and wait?  Any other Vietnam-specific advice would be appreciated.

Thanks - Jason

-Getting police cert.

-Submit DS160.

-Pay the fees.

-Schedule the interview.

There is no static about the approved rate, so it a myth . If they not worry because money can be wasted, they can try.

I wasn't aware that they need a police certificate also.  Thank you - Jason

Medical exams and vaccines are not required. My wife's extended family had a wedding recently and 5 of her relatives applied for tourist visas to attend the wedding. It took them around 5-10 business days to get their interview scheduled  after DS-160 submitted and 2-3 days to receive their visas after their interviews' verbal approval.

Their interviews were very short, 2-5 questions. 3 out of 5 got visas while 2 got rejected. One couple the husband got his visa but not his wife.

Thank you.  I suppose there was less risk of someone overstaying their visa if their spouse is left behind.  Hopefully, that won't be an issue for my in-laws.  Also thank you for the estimate of time it took.  We were worried it took many months like K1 or CR1 visas.  - Jason
