Hi All - I submitted all the required civil documents for IR-5 for bringing parents to the U.S, including marriage termination documentation, which was previously accepted by the NVC. Now there is a second requirement for 1st MARRIAGE-FINAL DIVORCE DECREE?? Anybody know what that is? This JUST appeared on my NVC screen after coming back to the website

Did you just submit the marriage termination documentation?  I would wait for the NVC to RFE to request the documentation, they may just be updating the status of your account and have yet to review the documents you submitted.

But what it is is a court document with stamps or signatures stating the marriage ended on such and such date and that both sides agreed to the settlement, in this case it would be the prior marriage.  Every country is different what divorce decrees and certificates look like.

DCF CR1 filing in Guangzhou, China:

Married - 2018-09-25

I-30 submitted at Guangzhou office - 2019-06-17
I-130 approved - 2019-06-18
DS-260 Confirmation Handed to CITIC to be Delivered - 2019-11-12-2019

DS-260 Approved, received email to schedule appointment - 2019-11-20-2019

NVC wants the full divorce decree--typically multiple pages that state the final ruling by the court to divide assets, etc.  Mine was 12 pages long, so I uploaded the entire certified document issued by the court.  Some jurisdictions also issue a divorce certificate of one page, that is not sufficient for immigration purposes, they want the entire divorce decree or equivalent for your country.  The divorce certificate alone is not enough.

Thank you for your replies. I originally submitted all required documents including a notarized divorce certificate, and all was approved by the NVC except for the petitioner's birth certificate. I logged in again a month later to resubmit and this new divorce doc requirement suddenly showed up. My original divorce certificate still shows approved

Is it a new requirement by the administration? I'm just surprised anyone reviewed my files again during this one month period, so it looks like an automatic website update
