I read that about 15 times

so if that highlighted statement does not apply for me....

then do i write my previous address there?

Put your current address in 9a only if it is different than what is in 8a (mailing address). Yours isn't different so start 9a with your history of addresses.

If the address is the same you leave 9a to h blank and fill in the dates in 10a-b.  Your other addresses begin in address 2

YMMV

Ok. Difference of opinion. I would start my previous addresses in 9a and not leave it blank.

Can't be.  It says provide your CURRENT address IF it is different than your mailing.   If you do it your way, you will never provide the dates for your current address

Agreed.  Write N/A for 9a.
