From I-864 Total income question

Hi everyone,

 

Apologies in advance if the question has been answered but I couldn't find the answer.

Our situation: my USC spouse is filing for my spouse visa but we will be using a joint sponsor as all her income is earned abroad.

 

On the I-864 form, Part 6, questions 24a to 24c: what "Total Income" should I input for the joint sponsor? He is filing jointly with his wife. Should I use the number from the "Total Income" line on their tax transcript (which also includes his wife's business income)? We are only using his income so I am thinking to add the W-2 from the most recent tax year to show his income alone. But my question is more about what to put on the I-864 form?

you will use the spouse income for this i 864 as the USC was to file taxes even from abroad

the cosponsor will make out their own I 864

Whose income was earned abroad? If it is the petitioner's income, it counts as income, must be included when filing taxes and should be used for sponsorship purposes during immigration.

Only if the income source will be continuing and is being used to qualify.  If the income will not continue after the beneficary immigrates or the USC moves to the USA, then that income doesn't qualify.
