Beneficiary's Birth Certificate - Original or Copy?

This is my second go around for a petitioning for a fiance K1 VISA (previous relationship didn't work out) and there is a lot of mixed information online now from when Obama was President vs Trump. Can my fiancee (beneficiary) bring a clear copy of her birth certificate along with a notarized translation from Russian->English? I did it this way in 2016 and it got approved, but I am not sure if they got more strict with this. I see some websites stating the original is needed but USCIS website says: "The consular officer may ask for additional information, such as photographs and other proof that the relationship with your U.S. citizen fiancé(e) is genuine. Documents in foreign languages, other than the language of the country in which the application takes place, should be translated. Applicants should take to the visa interview clear, legible photocopies of civil documents and translations, such as birth and divorce certificates" What do you guys think? Thank you!

Just about every Embassy asks for Original in English plus a copy. Its best you dont take any chances and have her get an original certified copy.

Thanks for your reply! When you say the original in English...I'm confused, the original is in Russian.

Original in Russian +  certified translation in English.  Thats what I am bringing as my BC is also in Russian.

Documents in Russian are fine for her to bring to Moscow for her interview. Almost all consulates accept documents in English and in the official language of the country they're in.

 

However, she will need a translation later when you apply for AOS after marrying.

At the US Embassy Moscow, the documents that you will be asked for first before the actual interview after waiting and hour or so is the beneficiary International Passport, Medical Exam (if hand carried in sealed envelope), original certified Russian birth certificate and certified police record certificates (and original military records if applicable).

Seems pretty straightforward to me
