Congrats but ask specific questions. Nobody is here to prepare a writeup of everything the naturalization interview entails and all different scenarios. Alternatively you can read the other posts in VJ if you’re seeking general info.

Congratulations! Being the questionnaire and your green card. Sometimes you can apply for the passport right after the ceremony but you know you have to give up your naturalization certificate temporarily.

If I just moved to this state, and do not have an ID there, what should I do?

Getting a new state ID is not easy, you need proof that you are a resident in the state etc etc. My interview is in 3 weeks, and I still do not have anything that would prove that I live here. I'll keep you updated on how my interview goes.

Remember you may not be approved for citizenship if you cannot provide evidence of your residency in your locality.

OK. Remember that 3-month residence is a legal requirement for naturalization; USCIS has no discretion in the matter. So I would:

• Apply for the state ID now, and take evidence of application to the interview
• Take as much alternative evidence of state residence as one can gather as well: apartment lease, recent utility bill (not cell phone), and government correspondence addressed to your new residence (including the envelope!). These could also support your application for state ID, by the way.

 I have applied as CA resident, and filed a change of address 9 months later, 3 months rule is not applied to this situation

OK. Still, I would present evidence of residence in your current state. People have been known to switch residence just to get faster processing of immigration benefit applications, and USCIS frowns on that. Expect some questioning on the reason for your move. Take evidence I suggest above, as well as other supporting your move (employment contracts, business incorporation, etc.) Good luck!

 

Just realized you'll be interviewing in DC office. The very first request I got at my interview was to produce green card + DL.

My advice was for oath not interview. My bad.
