There's many of those even when they don't close their accounts they come back asking the same questions less reveling story expecting a different answer then after wasting everyone's time someone looks at their post history and finds the entire story.

Parents of USC are immediate relatives per INA 201(b). Overstay is forgiven for them: https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-7-part-b-chapter-3

Thx. I mistakenly thought it was only forgiven for spouses of USC
