I've been trying to find what's required for my wife to get a driver's license or driver's permit, but I can't find anything on the California website. Can anyone point me to a specific link or know what she needs to take to the DMV ? We are currently in AOS

Clear as mud

Maybe you need to drive to a DMV and ask your questions......maybe they can clear it up for you.

Do not delay. Does she still have 60 or more days on her I-94? And does she have SSN? Bring AOS NOA1 as well with you and marriage cert

Her i94 is expired

You can still try. Bring her passport, with visa stamp, SSN, NOA1 for AoS, Marriage Cert, yourself, your real ID DL, and some proof of residency, e.g. car registration, property tax bill etc. You should be able to get at least AB60 compliant State ID/DL.

Update:

I was unable to get my wife a REAL ID since her i94 was expired. They wouldn't issue a regular driver's license or i.d. either, again because of the expired i94. They stated if I had a vaild i94 I could have applied for either. They said when she gets her employment authorization card she can reapply since the card gives them proof of immigration status.

California passed AB60 which allows people without immigration status to apply for an "ab60 driver license" . We were able to do this in the mean time. All we needed for that was proof of residency and her passport.

Glad you were able to do it. Without microscope to look at the tiny print on back side of it, I doubt anyone will be able to tell you it is "AB60" and not just standard non-RealID licence.

The AB60 and non-Real ID license have the same verbiage on the back.
