Yeah, which is utterly ridiculous. But you can submit a request for assistance through a NY Senator (Gillibrand or Schumer)

I see that the NYC office no longer accepts infopass appointments - basically, don't contact us!

It's not just NYC.  Almost all of the field offices in all States have removed the option to schedule an infopass online since late last year----you can still get one, you just have to phone the customer service line to request an appointment over the phone as stated on the infopass webpages.

USCIS started removing this option last year to reduce the amount of people requesting infopasses for information that can be easily accessible elsewhere online (ie. getting an infopass appointment just to ask what forms need to be filed for AOS/what evidence is needed to file), in the hopes of increasing the availability of resources for people who really need one, especially since it was difficult to get into a timeslot for one before due to people clogging up the online appointment system.

It's much more of a positive benefit to people to do it this way, I think, at least it's far easier to get an appointment now rather than trying to grab one in mere seconds online whenever the window opens up before they're all taken (and many taken by those who really don't need one).

We have to think as well that each case is different, it doesnt mean that you will get an interview the same month for those who got their interview already.

There are a lot of major factors to consider that is why some applicants did not get an interview right away. Some complicated cases takes longer.

Some people will think they have straight forward case, but you will never know on the background what USCIS found out about your case.

I know waiting is really pain in the *** believe me i felt that when I had my I-751 for 13 months after I got the approval,

Though I'm eligible to apply for N-400 last year May 2018 but I patiently waited for my I-751 approval before applying for N-400.

You need a lot of patience dealing with USCIS so hold on tight.

That makes sense and sounds like at least that aspect is better than it was before.

Yes, I agree that each case potentially has different features which can impact on the speed of things. That said, it's pretty clear the Manhattan office is swamped in general and everything takes forever even for seemingly straightforward cases.

You're right about the patience piece - I need more of it!

That makes sense that is why you got an interview right away since you're not under New York City (Manhattan) jurisdictions.
