Hello all,

We received case number oh May 15th.  We don't have any paper proof of the case number.  My fiancee scheduled the medical appointment for June 12th.  The instructions ask for letter/email to verify the case number.  Do you guys think we should wait for letter from London (aka packet 3) before we setup the medical appointment and subsequent interview.  We would like the interview to be schedule in the first week of July because I'm headed to UK during that week.  Do you guys think we're jumping the gun by scheduling everything before receiving paper proof?  Any guidance will be helpful.  Thanks.

You should get email confirmation from NVC of the transfer and case number which will suffice to show at the medical. The interview will not need to see that email or the letter of instruction London mails out to the beneficiary. Assuming you have read the K1 instructions from the embassy website and have your police certificate for the medical already.

Thanks for the prompt reply.  I got the case number by calling them.  NVC did not email me the case number.  I've submitted another request via AskNVC for the case number and hoping that they reply before June 12th.  Is it too soon to fill out DS160 and schedule interview date of July 3rd or July 5th?

My fiancee has photos, ARCO (police certificate) and medical records in hand.

Hi! You won’t get proof of case number until the NVC ships your case to the London embassy. Once it’s dispatched they send you a pdf copy. If you received your case number on 15/05 then your case should dispatch next Tuesday/Wednesday. As long as you schedule your medical for after Tuesday / Wednesday you’ll be fine. You won’t be able to schedule the interview until your case is dispatched / in transit to London.

That's you to decide. For me, I tend to follow the procedure outlined in the official instructions provided by the consulate. I also had a stress free immigration. It only took 4 1/2 months so I can understand that the longer times makes people want to cut corners. Many do. But sometimes I find it weird that people want everything so perfect and stress about a parent's middle initial, yet throw caution to the wind to get that medical appointment and interview date despite their file not even being in London yet. It sounds like you have at least prepared, which is good.

Hello,

I have a similar question as I’m the petitioner. I just checked the NVC website and it said that:

Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center.”

Should I wait to complete the DS-160? How do you know where to go to schedule everything?

Sorry, I’m nervous yet excited at the same time!

Ignore the part about your interview was provided. That is to spouse visas and other immigrant visas. They don't personalize for K1s.

You need to read the London instructions for K1s. They will mail the beneficiary a link to them after they receive the case and log it in. Here they are:

https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/applying-for-the-visa/

Scroll down to find the Four Steps that look like this. They will tell you where and how to do things. Then read all the rest of the links on that page to make sure you get everything needed lined up.

I emailed NVC via AskNVC website and they got back to me with an official looking attachment which states the case number and that it's being forwarded to London.  This letter will be more than enough for the medical requirement.  Hopefully, the online status will show "ready" status in few days and we will be able to setup our interview date which will be convenient for us.

Hi All! -  Upon asking the NVC we did receive a PDF letter providing our case number and stating that our petition has been sent to the UK consulate.

To confirm/clarify - Should my Fiancé start the next steps, DS-160, Police Certificate, should I send the Affidavit of Support now, etc.? OR should we wait till we receive the letter from the consulate?

Appreciate your help!

I had my medical on the 13th of May, they actually asked me for the copy of the letter from the embassy.  I had not taken it with me as it was only received at the weekend and I didn’t think it was needed with having the email from the NVC.  The receptionist told me they could not forward everything to the embassy until this was received. Luckily I was able t get a family member t go to my house and scan the letter and email it to me to email to them, which they accepted.

I’d just be wary of not taking it.  Worse comes to worst you will just complete your medical and have to send the letter through once you receive it if you haven’t by then.  It took almost 4 weeks for us t receive ours

Yes, get that police certificate ordered. That could have been done before NOA2.

Yes, get immunizations needed.

Yes, get the health summary print out from your GP.

All that is needed for before attending the medical. GPs and NHS are notoriously slow at helping so get that lined out first.

Yes, send the I-134.

DS-160 can be done because it just sits on a server somewhere to be accessed at your interview. Nobody reads it or acts on it when you submit it. It simply hangs out "in the cloud" until interview day. Be sure to save the confirmation of submitting.

Was this in London? I had my medical on 20th May and they only required the letter from the NVC saying it has been shipped! My friend who entered the US on her K1 visa yesterday had still not received that letter!

Hi I checked my status online and it said ready. So I scheduled my medical and interview myself online also my partner has already sent me his affidavit of support about a month ago And I did the DS 160 about a month ago too. I got my acro a few months back.  And last week I got my medical summary. My medical and interview isn’t until mid June but it’s better to get everything ready early
