If I knew where your fiance would be applying for his passport I could give you a better idea of how long the wait is. If the interview is in July he doesn't need to pay mega bucks to get it before then. He can pay a $10 pick up fee and go back and pick it up exactly 2 weeks from the day he applied. Feel free to message me any questions that you have.

Since other 'government' people on here have outed themselves I guess I'll out myself too......

Damn, we know have a "passport lady" in our group!! lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I knew it! I had suspected there were other gov't people incognito on here. Are you planning on keeping your job and commuting? If you are I'd like to keep in touch with you especially with figuring the tax, pension, etc out. Even better that your a fed. employee. Are you under the Treasury board?

I'm hoping to go into Winnipeg on Monday and p/u my medical results and head to the PP offce. I will still need to expadite as I don't plan on going back into Winnipeg until it's time to fly out to Montreal for my interview.

For all of you who have to renew their passports after sending in Packet 3: since you probably put your old passport number on the DS-156 forms you sent in with Packet 3, DO BRING IN A NEW SET OF DS-156 FORMS (W/ BARCODE) WITH THE NEW PASSPORT NUMBER TO THE INTERVIEW!

Otherwise they will only issue your visa only after you mail in the new forms after the interview.

This almost happened to us - we brought a renewed passport to the interview; luckily we had an extra set of forms printed out with the new info just in case (following VJ advice). Had we not taken this extra step, they'd have delayed our visa until the new forms get to them in the mail.

I'm a CR-1 and we don't use a DS-156. I think the original poster was a K1 but I think they probably have had their interview by now.
