Hi all,

my fiancé opted out of receiving two vaccines during his medical appointment. For those that also decided to do vaccines here in the states, where did you go? Did they need to have insurance? How long after arrival are you supposed to get them done? And how much did it end up costing you?

Thanks in advanced

If you have insurance, they will cover most of them at your general doctor, and you will just be out your co-pays. Next best option is to look for a Red Cross in your city and give them a call. They should offer them really cheap or know a place that does. Next cheapest option will be checking with the local health department and see what they can offer. Should be very reasonable to get done thru them if they offer them. Next up is going to be CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, etc. At the pharmacy or clinic inside the establishment. Here the price is going to go up to around 80-150 dollars a vaccination depending on if it is a series or just a single. The final option if you feel like balling out, and spending money like you just don't care, is looking for a travel vaccination clinic. They are all over the United States, and will happily take you for 200-300 minimum for a vaccination. So you need 2, so figure 400 bucks. This would be my last choice obviously. You could also check at some urgent cares also, but they will be a little higher than the pharmacy at CVS and Walgreens, but most of the urgent Care don't offer them, but you can check depending on where you live.

Civil Surgeon could do them and might well be the major cost anyway.

I do have insurance through my employer, so I will need to add him to my coverage and go through our doctor's office.  I will most likely go this route since it seems more cost efficient. I am not trying to spend hundreds of unnecessary dollars than what is already being spent within the process.   Thanks for the info.

The opportunity to save has passed, that would have been to have had them done in home country.

The civil surgeon that my wife and stepson went to accepted my company's health insurance (I luckily had just added her to my plan). It took a bit of the sting out of the cost of  the civil surgeon, for my wife charges.

Though, not for the stepson...to add him to my health plan would have been $400 (+) per month. We went online and got him his own plan later on.

YMMV

My wife needed the flu shot and at the time you were required to have your vaccination record transposed to the I-693. We called and the first CS said that the medical would have to be redone and it would cost high of $500. We made a few more calls and found that all they had to do was transpose the vaccinations from the DS-3025 to the I-693 and then mail them with the AOS. Cost $75. We did the flue shot for $10 at the local Wal-Greens.

The medical for Manila Philippines was I think $185 but now it's $265. Every vaccination was included but no mention of the flu shot till she was already in the US.
