Visa on hand! But my last name on my child’s annotation is spelled incorrectly!!!! Omg huhu I don’t know if immigration will let us through this Wednesday. 😪 i already emailed the embassy regarding this. Can’t call them anymore because it’s not office hours huhu

Wow that’s a shame. I hope it works out. I didn’t book flights yet. Hoping to go the 20th but wanted to make sure I left lots of time. My visa still says administrative processing and we interviewed the same day. Sounds like they are handling yours quickly so maybe it will be fine. :)

Yeah it was the best direct flight available and my fiance can come fly with us. He needs to be in US soil by the 10th cause he has his scheduled yearly check ups with the vet. 😑 Lord huhu I hope it’ll be okay because it’s just in the annotation part. All our names are spelled out correctly. ☹️ Supposed to be excited now I’m back to being scared

Saw this from 2006?! 🙀 I hope it’ll be the same. Huhu goodluck to us 🇺🇸

Just a quick update! (it's been a whirlwind since the interview!). Visa was approved at the interview September 11, received email notification September 13 from Canada Post that it had been shipped. Arrived at the post office in Moncton, NB I had it to delivered to September 17. Open up the mail package and check the visa in your passport to ensure all numbers and names are correct. There's an envelope in there they make very clear to keep sealed.

I went through Port of Entry driving through the Houlton, ME border from NB. It was about 30-60minutes in secondary inspection while they went through the stack of papers in the sealed envelope and entered it into their system. Very friendly staff there who asked a few simple questions at the desk (how did you meet? are you on any medications?). My fiance drove through with me so it might have helped having him there. I provided a detailed packing list of personal & household items I was bringing in with me and their estimated value. They took all the information and had me fill out an additional import form. The car did not get searched. I had brought my interview binder in with me just in case they asked for any additional documents, but they only asked for a vet certificate for my dog. I-94 was stapled into the passport and cost $6.

They gave me a little American flag and told me congrats! We went and had a beer immediately to celebrate in the only bar we could find open in Houlton, Maine lol. I had heard mostly stories of people going through airport POE so I wasn't sure what to expect driving, but thankfully my experience was a good one.

Hi,

thank for sharing your experience.

concerning the I-94, I saw on their website we have to apply online in CBP website and then apper at the POE within 7 days.

you did that or they just did it at the POE ?

Also I'm going to prepare a packing list of my personal and households items as well, you said they had you fill out additional import form,

do you remember which form was it, I would like to look for it now and fill asap to smooth the process.

Thank you very much

So my interview isn't until the 30th but I'm on this constant angst about the organization of my papers and making sure I've got everything.

Would someone be kind enough to guide me and tell how you organized yours??

Also, I'm a Canadian citizen but I was born in Philippines (got here when I was about 8-9 years old), do I still need to bring original and copies of my birth certificate, record of landing, etc.

or will my passport suffice?

I would organize them in the order it says on the packet 4. When you get to the consulate they tell you to organize them differently. I don’t remember the exact order but I wrote down to the best of my memory a few posts back in this thread.

I don’t know about the birth certificate. Wouldn’t hurt to bring it if you have it.

They ask for your long form birth certificate at your interview. Yours isn’t Canadian so I would bring the original, a photocopy, a certified translation (if it’s not in English), and your immigration documentation. You will definitely need the birth certificate, so it won’t hurt to bring all of your records just in case they ask!

It would be terrible to get this far and go into administrative processing pending your Canadian immigration documents!
