Mine says issued now too!

Awesome. Please let us know when you have visa in hand if you don’t mind. And the city you live in

My only takeaways, where I was like "oh, I should remind people on visajourney about this" were:

  • please remember to bring proof of payment, if you paid by card when selecting the appointment - this could be the email they sent as confirmation of payment (the YATRIS one)
  • please remember birth certificates, and original non-English birth certificates for people who may not have been born here or in a place where the official language is not English, as well as the translations - a couple of people in line mentioned that their lawyers had told them these were unnecessary 😣
  • for financial information - obviously bring all you can because interviews are so different case-by-case, but all they asked for on the day was the I-134 and for supporting documents the most recent tax information - they said tax return transcripts, but I gave in the 2018 form 1040 and a copy of the 2018 W2 and that was not an issue

Also, just checked my CEAC status and it said "Issued". So incredibly grateful, thank you everyone for all your help over the last couple of months! Will let you guys know when I get my passport! Good luck to everyone who is yet to have their interview! 🙏

Hi,

  • can you tell me please where did you get the translations for birth certificate ?
  • do they have to be certified ?
  • what about police certificate of your country of origin ? did you get it translated

Thank you

Hi,

For the birth certificate, I have actually had a certified translation of it my whole life, got it in my country of origin when I was 2 years old, lol.

Translations do have to be certified to the best of my knowledge, for other documents I contacted certified translators in Ontario. For Ontario, check ATIO for translators, and for other provinces, check the Canadian Translators Council website.

I got all my non-English documents translated!

Hope that helps!

Fiance and I just got our NOA1 on September 4. It says we should get ours adjucated by December 6. Fingers crossed it goes that fast!

Hope so too! We had our noa1 sept 7 2018... finally got my interview October 9 2019! It’s been a process but so excited to be at this stage. We had an rfe... which added about 5 weeks, but even with that can’t figure out why ours took so long, but it is ok :))

We had an NOA1 of December 5. Interview is October 2. Although they said the government shut down didn’t impact the timing but I feel like maybe it did. It seems the people who got NOA1s inJan/Feb had an easier time.

Having said that, our case was not cut and dry. There’s a K2 child and previous marriage. We also had an RFE. I’m still grateful. I know 2 people who are over 18 months in their wait.

18 months! Omg! Ours will be 13 months which I thought was bad! I agree I think the shutdown affected timelines too.

Hi guys! First off, I'm so glad I found this forum, I've been stressing over the chance of missing out on interview slots in my sleep. I got the green light to book my interview on August 29th, and I've been refreshing the page like crazy at work and home every single day. From what I have read on this forum, the next available dates will be in November. Does anyone know if they've had any openings since when they opened up October dates on August 14? IM SO STRESSED :((((((

Hi! It is stressful. I would recommend continuing to refresh especially over the next two weeks. Seems to be the second or third week when they open up. I checked in the morning one day nothing and then saw an email (less than an hr later) from someone posting on this forum that they just opened up spots. I jumped back on and was able to get one.

That’s the plan! And if I find an opening, I’ll rush to post about it here to help you kind folks

Hey. So I only really checked once a day. Sometimes twice. But I always checked about an hour or two after the consulate opened. I figure they all get into work, have a chat and a coffee, answer some emails and then update the openings.

I think it’s probably the worst system ever for making an appointment but it’ll happen for you.

I also had my interview on the 11th at 7:30AM and was so nervous I felt nauseous the entire time, haha. I was asked for about 1/8th of the documentation I had brought, but I figure it was still good that I brought extra in case I was asked for it. My interview was about 3-4 minutes long, in which I was asked:

1. How long have you and your fiance known each other and how frequently have you seen each other in the last year (we worked together for 4 of the 5 years he was in Canada, and I have seen him 9 times in the last year since he's moved back to Indiana, so she did not ask me much about our relationship beyond these two questions)

2. Have you ever been arrested anywhere in the world?

3. Have you ever had trouble crossing the border?

4. Do you have a date for your wedding?

At the end she told me that my case was one of the simplest and strongest cases she has come across so she has no problem approving my visa. She wished me well and congratulated me and off I went! This morning I received an email from Canada Post saying that my passport had been collected and expected delivery date is Tuesday, September 17th. I live in Calgary, but I am sure it would be a similar shipping time frame most places in Canada.
