Me. Again. I leave for Montreal in 8 days so prepping everything!!

My fiance (petitioner) is with a bank that has no physical branch locations (so modern lol). He's unable to get the bank letter for the I-134 supporting evidence. I've been looking through other threads but want to check with the recent Montreal people that this should be enough supporting evidence:

1) Employer Letter

2) 2017 tax return & 2018 extension filing

3) Year's worth of bank statements with deposits & current balance highlighted

Am I missing anything? I'll include his mortgage agreement under proof of US residency.

Hey I think you guys should be okay - the bank statements should cover the proof of support! Is there anything from the website that says when the account was opened?

Hey, I had the medical done on Monday in Toronto with Dr. Mascarenhas and it was a very quick.

For the appointment itself, I went in handed the receptionist my vaccination documents (the one's they really check for are MMR, Td/Dap - administered in the last ten years -  and Varicella if you haven't had chickenpox), my passport, the passport photos, and interview confirmation email. Then the doctor asked me about my medical history, if I had any illnesses that required hospitalization and any surgeries. Overall it was very quick. I then went and gave a blood sample, urine sample, and had an X-ray done. With a waiting time of approximately one hour, the entire process took about an hour and a half! Nothing to worry about! Good luck 😊

So bank statements from January to now would be fine? No letter from the bank? I don’t understand what the letter from the bank should say. Super cofused about this part. If anyone has gotten such a letter, let me know!

We got the letter from my fiancé's bank, but they refused to write the total amount deposited over the last year, so we compensated for that by giving twelve months of bank statements.

They have the information on the USCIS website:

"Did you submit the following?

  • A signed statement from an officer of the bank or other financial institution that states when you opened an account, the total amount deposited for the past year, and the present balance of such account
  • A signed statement from your employer on business letterhead that states the date and nature of your employment, salary paid, and whether the position is temporary or permanent
  • A copy of your last income federal tax return filed, or a report of commercial rating concern (if self-employed)
  • A list containing the serial numbers and denominations of bonds and names of the owners (if applicable)"

SOURCE: https://www.uscis.gov/i-134

In the event that some of these documents are unavailable, I am sure they understand if you provide an alternative!

Hope that helps!

Yeah I think if you can provide most of what is available that will work, below I copy and pasted the instructions relating to support documents, it does say provide any of the following:

As the sponsor, you must show you have sufficient income or financial resources to assure that the foreign national you are sponsoring will not become a public charge while in the United States.
Evidence should consist of copies of any of the documents listed below that apply to your situation.
Failure to provide evidence of sufficient income or financial resources may result in the denial of the foreign national’s application for a visa or his or her removal from the United States.
Submit in duplicate evidence of income and resources, as appropriate:
A. Statement from an officer of the bank or other financial institutions with deposits, identifying the following details regarding the account:
(1) Date account opened;
(2) Total amount deposited for the past year; and (3) Present balance.
B. Statement(s) from your employer on business stationery showing: (1) Date and nature of employment;
(2) Salary paid; and
(3) Whether the position is temporary or permanent.
C. If self-employed:
(1) Copy of last income tax return filed; or (2) Report of commercial rating concern.
D. List containing serial numbers and denominations of bonds and name of record owner(s).

Hey if I’ve been previously married do I have to bring both the marriage certificate and divorce/death certificate? Or just the divorce certificate?

I'm only bringing with me the divorce certificate. My previous marriage certificate was sent to the court when we filed for divorce. Furthermore, the previous marriage had been voided and no longer in effect so the certificate for that marriage is irrelevant now.

I went to Dr. Cheema yesterday and can also share my experience! There was a really sweet lady at reception who took my paperwork and verified and photocopied my information (vaccinations, current and anticipated addresses, passport photos, etc.) and then asked me to wait. A nurse called me shortly after and took my weight and height, then she explained what was going to happen and left the room. Dr. Cheema came in a few minutes later and quickly went over his checklist of questions (prior surgeries, vaccinations, medications), and then looked at my ears, eyes and throat, and then pushed down on my abdomen and told me I was good to go; he spent maybe 4 or 5 minutes with me total and was very nice. The nurse came back in and gave me the requisition for my X-ray and blood/urine tests, and sent me on my way. I live in Calgary so there was an extra charge of $40.00 to have my results couriered to me, but they do next day delivery (so 4 days after your appointment) which is nice.

The X-ray clinic is about 1.5km up the road and the blood/urine lab was about 1 block further than the X-ray clinic. I waited about 30 minutes for my X-ray and 60 minutes for the lab. I think this was, in part, due to my appointment being at 10:20 so by the time I made it to those other appointments it was around lunch time and packed. Quick note: I drank two water bottles before going to the lab because I knew I would have to give a urine sample, but they don't give you the cup until after you give blood, so be prepared to have to wait a while with a full bladder!

Hope this helps :)

Okay so in the packet 4 when it asks for marriage certificate it most likely means if you and the petitioner got married?

Also it’s asks for court docs and military records. Is that for the petitioner and the beneficiary or just the Canadian?

Anyone know the answer to these questions or how I can find them?
