You can always call and speak to an operator but as far as I know, and have seen, two weeks is completely normal :)

Hang in there, it will happen soon!

If you email them the choice of agent without even having a casenumber assigned they're just gonna say they don't have any record of your file. You'll have to wait until they tell you they generated the DS-3032.

Being patient is a ... uhm ... b-word, but we have little choice :)

Good luck!

There is no way to check status online with NVC. They would save themselves a lot of calls probably, but perhaps they either think it's not worth it due to the short period of time they actually have cases there, or they just don't have the money to automate. I've read in many places that the whole immigration part of Department of Homeland Security is dirt poor.

Let me add my own question here, I've heard about this "agent of choice" but not sure what it's for. Who would make the choice and why do you need to?

Oh btw, it's been 2 weeks four our case and it isn't at NVC yet but that seems to be about average. Man I wish I could be one of the 2 or 3 day people I see breeze through there.

The DS-3032, also known as 'Choice of Agent' is only used for IR/CR visa, not for the K-1. But to satisfy your curiosity: The 'agent' in question is usually the petitioner (the US spouse) or the foreign spouse her/himself (but can also be a lawyer) appointed by the beneficiary to receive all the paperwork from the NVC.

:)

NikkisPrecious: any update on the case#?

NVC is part of the Department of State, not the Department of Homeland Security.

I don't know if NVC is "dirt-poor" or not ... but if it is, it isn't because it is part of the "dirt-poor part of Homeland Security.

Yes you're correct NVC is Department of State. The NVC is actually ran under a contract to a company called SI International. So, since it went to I'm sure the lowest bidder, it could be why there isn't any automation taking place.

Heya NP!

Ours took about three weeks to get our case number so expect it any day now, if it hasn't come by already. :)

Then, you wait about another two weeks to have the DS 3230 'generated' according to the tips and tricks and shortcuts.....haha it sure is a game of patience....!

Cheers,

Pris.

Hey Pris!

Yeah by the looks ours is now heading for the 3 week mark, i understand why they give you the choice of agent but at the same time its like well.. my spouse has been the agent this whole time.. surely just keep sending the bits to her, it seems like a bit of a timewaster for most. I'd say 80% of people choose their other half.

Glad yours is moving along though and pray we all get re-united soon!

I thought that too!

For some reason, when we were waiting for the NOA2 I was much less stressed out. Funny how that works. Not funny haha though

Keeping my fingers crossed for a very-soon-to-be-assigned case # :)

And then, you can wait a bit more
