NVC is asking for W-2 but we don't have it

hi, I am in a very similar situation and wanted to ask if you had any luck with explaining your situation in a letter to the NVC? I also receive an email which states that I need to submit a supporting document, the w2 / 1099 form. However, I don't have any of that as my income was foreign earned. For my tax return I submitted form 2555. I am the petitioner for my spouse's i-130 application. Thank you in advance

Hello all,

We submitted all our documents to the Ceac's website. My wife, who is the US citizen and petitioner, has been working abroad in my country so she does not have W-2. However, we still have filed our taxes jointly because I had some income from the US - research fellowships so I did not need to be in the US but I used them to conduct research abroad. We actually submitted W-2 for my income but NVC is asking for my wife's W-2 that she does not have. We've been calling them but no chance to reach out someone yet. Is there anyone who has an idea about what to do?

Should we just write a letter explaining the situation and upload it? Is my wife supposed to submit something official about her foreign income? She does not have W-2s but she has paystubs for her foreign income so that's what she can upload if it is necessary.

Thank you so much

Did you get an answer about the W2's?  I am having the same issue.  I mistakenly used my foreign income as sole sponsorship, so they responded asking for my W2's and a co-sponsor.  I added a co-sponsor, thinking it would take care of the W2 issue, but now, 6 months after first stating that I didn't have a W2, they are asking for it again.

Just wondering how your case was solved.  Thanks!

Did you find a solution?  The same thing is happening to me now.
