Hey everyone!

Me and my fiancé applied for a k1 visa in February and we just got the NO2 today. We are super excited but now thinking about what’s next including the embassy interview 😄

The income requirement makes me worried. We are both really young, my fiancé is soon 19 so he never had a real job before. He just signed up for the military and his camp will take place this summer. He will have stable earnings but we won’t really have annual income to show or anything since this is his first job. My question is, is it really necessary to have a whole « income background » or would it be enough to show that he has a stable job since in the military?

Thank you so much for the coming answers, goodnight everyone!

Your finance needs to show some income and he should be in touch with his disbursing office and or where ever he can get copies of his check or deposits to use as proof of income. If you are unable to show the required income, you should consider a co-sponsor. You will still need to supply the following where you have such documents. Also, I have included a Military hotline with USCIS for questions concerning your application. They are there to help military families like yourself so don't hesitate to use it.

EVIDENCE OF SUPPORT. You should be able to demonstrate that you will not become a public charge or be a burden on the U.S. taxpayers for financial support. A completed I-134 Affidavit of Support Form (https://www.uscis.gov/i-134) K1/K2 Interview Preparation Instructions – English (February 2014)  Page 3 of 9 with an original signature will be useful to the consular officer to evaluate your petitioner’s ability to be financially responsible for you. You should also submit your petitioner’s most recent U.S. Federal income tax return (Form 1040) and wage statements (Form W-2). Employment letters stating salaries and bank statements may be included to substantiate the I-134. Get the IRS transcript in place of the actual 1040 here: https://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript Use this link to determine the income levels needed https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p.

USCIS has established a toll-free military help line exclusively for members of the military and their families. USCIS customer service specialists are available to answer calls Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. (CST), excluding federal holidays. After-hours callers receive an email address that they can use to contact USCIS for assistance.

Hey !

Fellow Belgian here :) one step ahead of you as I received my NVC number last week :)

Are you going to live together by yourselves ?

I have a similar issue because my husband to be is a free lancer and did not earned much last year. But as he lives with his mother and we will stay there for a few month when I arrive she is our co-sponsor. Does he have someone over there who could be a co sponsor ?

Kind regards,

Marie

Hey!

It's so nice to hear from someone else going through this process and who is also from Belgium! 😁and also congratulations!!

Yes, we are going to live together as soon as we are married. His grandmother could potentially be our co-sponsor, we are still thinking about it but we really wanted to see first if we could do it by ourselves.

So, are you now planning your interview? you must be so excited to see the end of this process and join your future husband!

Have a nice day😊

HEY !

I'm glad, exited and definitely so in love !

I feel you and we wanted to do the same but we are so scared that it wouldn't have been enough for them and at that stage being rescheduled for administration rework I would die on the spot ! hahaha

Not yet because our case is still at NVC. I wanted to already schedule the medical check and the interview but I prefer to wait to receive Package 3 to be sure as well. I already made sure I had all the vaccines necessary, I had a blood check and will bring the results with me with the proofs of the vaccines to reduce the costs of the medical check as much as possible :) I also have all the documents requested so as soon as I receive the Package I can schedule everything right away.

It's exiting and I feel like now is the longest and hardest wait ! hahahaa

We are planning the D-day and I want to be over there already :)

I hope you are doing well and don't hesitate to contact me also via message if you have any question

Have a nice day :)

Hey there fellow Belgian applicants (although my spouse was the applicant). I know this is a bit off topic but wanted to remind you when you go in for your medical exam make sure to request a copy of the vaccination/medical form that the doctor fills out (I believe it is form ds3025) - the doctor in Brussels was not aware of this so my husband submitted his AOS without the form. Fortunately we were OK since the form was delivered to USCIS directly, but good idea to have a copy yourself to include with your application.

Good luck!
