N-400 - Include or Exclude Child's A Number (already US Citizen through Adoption)

So we are working on the N400 online and it is asking about our son's A number and I am wondering whether we should/should not include it.  So by way of timing:

July 2015 - Fiancee and step son arrive on K-1/K-2

October 2015 - Marry within 90 days and file for AOS

June 2016 - Receive conditional green cards

October 2017 - Begin adoption process for my stepson

March 2018 - File for removal of conditions for both my wife and my stepson

July 2018 - Adoption finalized (ROC still pending) and using the adoption file for US Passport for our son, expired conditional green card taken at post office and returned (provided notification that it would be returned)

August 2018 - Receive son's US passport making him a US Citizen

May 2019 - ROC approved for both my wife and my son (???), receive new 10 year green cards for both in the mail

So now that we want to submit the N-400 for my wife, we are a bit confused as to what is needed in this case since our son is already a USC but has/had an A number.

On a side note, we still have his new green card and we are assuming we will prepare a cover letter as to why its no longer needed, along with scans of his US Passport and send it back.  Any idea on where we should send it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

No where in your timeline does it say where you notified USCIS that your son was a USC due to adoption, so you shouldnt be confused about why he got a 10yr card in the mail....Check the n-400 instructions and form itself and see if it says anything about needing to disclose the A number even if they are citizens. I really dont think its anywhere in them- so unless the instructions dictate you to list it-  dont fill out anything for the A number.  Send the GC back to the service center you file ROC with.

No we didn’t notify USCIS because the conditional green card was turned over/retained when we filed for the US Passport.  We received a notification about it being returned, but don’t recall whether it was being kept by DoS or returned to DHS/USCIS, so yes I suppose we should have closed the loop with USCIS as well.

Thanks.
