IF YOUR PETITIONER OWES TAXES DO THEY HAVE TO BE PAID BEFORE YOU CAN GET YOUR VISA?

Do they have tax liens against them?

Exactly.

"The IRS will never: 1. Call to demand immediate payment, nor will we call about taxes owed without first having mailed you a bill."

We are all getting these types of calls now on both land lines and cells

these are scams to scare people

and many send money but they are scams

Never return a phone call from someone claiming to be with the IRS. Instead, individuals should call the IRS directly at 800-829-1040, and businesses should call 800-829-4933. The US Department of Justice says the IRS never discusses personal tax issues through unsolicited emails or texts, or over social media.Feb 6, 2019

They will call you about some BS IRS or defunct debt. They will then put the works on you about needing to pay up now or face charges by the end of the day. This is a ruse to get you to pay up right away.

To add to all of this when you get your visa and come to the US ,   do not take any of these calls seriously

we get several a day

and don't fall for even people who say they are collecting for police or firemen

if you do not personally know who is calling ,  be careful and don't believe most

Uhmmmm was it requesting payments in gift cards? cause that's a scam.

IRS never calls, neither does USCIS or DHS.

They will send letters to address on file, hence it is important to keep your address up to date with these entities.

And if they insist its them, ask for the agent name, and agent number and say "I will call into the IRS helpline/your field office from the official IRS website and ask to route to you."

More specifically, USCIS (and the IRS, IIRC) does not cold call.

USCIS employees do call upon request in some circumstances. I've seen this with T2 and supervisors who are unavailable at the time of calling in.

Edit: And there was a recent case on VJ where - after calling USCIS - they scheduled a call with the caller:

They will only call back if requested and if they do, they won't ask sensitive information apart from name, dob and address.

decisions regarding visa approval/status/denials etc are usually scam.

This is more common among student F visas where they will put up an item on sale on some local/group specific site that will usually be scrapped by scammers.
