1. You are extremely lucky to have received such an early interview in NYC: 5 months after submission is very uncommon. When you say "New York" are you referring to the Manhattan office?

2. All of the estimated case completion dates changed for New York last week. If you have an interview in June, I think you can ignore that case completion date. The oath ceremonies are usually 1 month after the interview providing you are approved on the day.

6/2020: Passport received (3 months)

I haven't heard of that being the case. Typically people have said that filing online was quicker. What is your situation - filing after 5 years of residency?

Well, you have won the lottery! I haven't heard of anyone getting an interview that quickly in recent times.

It's not about luck, they have started prioritizing applications filed in 2019 than those filed last year or before, through LIFO(last in first out) process in order to ease the backlog on all applications. That is the reason people are getting fast interviews who filed 2019 than those who filed last year or earlier. So whoever filed in 2019 is getting 'lucky'.

Seems very unfair on those who applied sooner. So do you think that because I applied in April 2019 I may get an interview sooner than expected?

I found one reference to the practice in this article but it's relating to the processing of asylum cases:

There is an attorney in NYC, Brad Bernstein, he stated that in a live Q&A session on youtube, when asked about cases filed in 2019. I would share it if I get to find it.

It's not just about asylum cases, as per the attorney. In actuality people are getting faster interviews who filed in 2019. I have seen a few more examples of fast interview appointments such as the OP.

Well, it does but it is what it is. You might get lucky too since you applied in 2019.

OK, it's the first I am hearing about it, but it does make sense given how quickly the OP got his interview. There are various other members who filed in NYC in 2018 (with regular cases) who haven't been given interview dates yet. It will be interesting to see if other people who filed in 2019 (Jan-May) start getting interviews in the next 6 months like the OP did.

There would be several other VJ members who applied in Jan 2019 and have their interviews already scheduled.

Who filed in Manhattan?
