Hi everyone,

we just got the approval on our K1 application last week and we are in the process of preparing the documents needed for the interview.

Do i need to bring the original or photocopy of NOA2 to the interview?

My fiance total number of household is 7 (including him, me and my 2 kids plus his 3 kids). His annual income last year is just over $5000 (in the poverty guideline)? He has IRA and 401 which he will add into the affidavit of support. Do you think that is siffucient?

Lastly, he is a Filipino and naturalized US citizen. He plans to come to the Philippines to be with us at the interview. Will he be allowed to come with us inside the embassy for the interview?

Any help or tip will be appreciated.

Thank you.

Vilma,

If your petitioner is below the poverty guidelines, then maybe you have to be ready for a co-sponsor? Petitioner's financial capability should be at 125% of the poverty guidelines and having that big family... that can cause a problem. US is very strict with that because they don't want people to be a possible financial burden in the US. Not really sure if a co-sponsor is allowed for a K-1? (please anyone correct me if I'm wrong...)

For the interview: You will need to bring the Appointment letter. THe required documents you need for the interview is listed on the Appointment packet. Follow this link-> this is how the appointment packet for K-1 will look like and the documents that you will need to prepare for your interview-> http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwfivk1.pdf

Your fiance can go with you during the interview. He just need to bring his passport to enter. Good LUck!

Filed: K-1 Visa Country: Philippines
Timeline

Co-sponsor is allowed for K1 too, esp. if your fiance's income falling under poverty guideline (check http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_1327.html ) with a big household then prepare a co-sponsor. No, you dont need NOA2 for you interview, You'll need the appointment letter which you will receive in your packet 3. Yes, he can get inside the Embassy on your interview date as long as he has his passport with him.

the 125% poverty guideline for a household of 7 is $31,090 and my fiance last year's annual income is around $39,000. Do you think that's good enough since its over the 125% guideline?

That will seem to be enough for a household of 7. But just in case, you may want to prepare for a co-sponsor as well, but don't give it to them unless they asks for it during your interview. And also prepare his latest pay stubs (January 2007 to present...). Good luck!
