Hi, so this may be an odd question - but we are learning that some K1 packages are getting approved in as little as 2 to 3 months in the California center. This is news to us as we were expecting 5-7 months (We applied this month) and we were wondering if there was a way to delay the interview scheduling to buy time? My fiancée is graduating from medical school early next year and we didn't expect it could get approved so fast. Please note, we haven't received the NOA2 yet, but just wanted to be ready just in case it did come in early. Odd situation I know.

Also, does anyone know if the Embassy at Moscow accepts co-sponsors?

Thank you for reading.

Just the fact that you are going through Moscow will slow things down because interviews are difficult to get

YMMV

After approval your noa2  has a validity of 4 months which you can ask for an extension of another four months before it expires but keep in mind that extension is at their descretion.

Also it appears that the duration for approved petitions to transit via NVC to consulate is quite a bit longer than it was at this time last year (months vs. weeks).

Mine was 37 days in November,  not sure it is terribly different than that

Ours was two weeks last August.  I have seen posts from people complaining of upwards of 4 months stuck at NVC, but I'm not sure.

Even if your petition is approved in 3 months (which seems to be very possible right now), you've still got another month to month and a half of waiting at the NVC (probably), and then you're in Moscow, where sometimes they'll randomly have no K-1 interviews for a month and getting an interview when they do open up slots can be an adventure (it wasn't for us, because we were extraordinarily fortunate with timing; Anastasia's calendar opened enough into January that the backlog from no interviews in December had mostly had their interviews scheduled, and on a day more slots opened up). Also, your fiancée will have about six months from the date of her medical exam to some to the US, and it's fine to do that even two days before the interview (though don't put things off until the very last day, of course).

Yes, there's usually a chance to delay at the interview stage. An i-129f approval is valid for 4 months, you need to have your interview within that time. However, most embassies can extend the validity of your i-129f approval by 4 months at a time, up to a year. Once your case reaches the embassy you can reach out to them about this, if still needed.
