Has anyone ever run into an issue in regards to an age difference with the whole spousal visa process. My spouse and I have a 10 year age difference and I am concerned that immigration will think our marriage is fake and not based off of love. I heard that the interviewers in Senegal are kinda rude and not easy to work with. Any help or answers would be great!!!!!

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Ten years isn't huge.  Which spouse is older?  I would not worry unless there are larger red flags to the relationship.

The important thing is the good evidence that you have where it is proven that your marriage is in good faith

Age difference, in itself, will not be a sole disqualifier.  However, it has been sited by some consulate officers as a factor in denials.  Quality evidence of a bona fide relationship such as time actually together can overcome age difference.

We’ve been together several times. I’ve been here in Senegal, which I am now, for two week intervals at a time and this is my third time here, and I am coming again in August of this year.

What is an AOS????

Adjustment of status (green card).  You will need to do much reading and research in order to have a successful immigration process.

Hi, thank you for responding. I am older, my husband is younger.

Hello.  Ten years isn't so bad however, you need to prove a bona fide relationship/marriage.  My fiance went through Dakar embassy & was approved.  We also have an age gap.  He was asked a lot more questions, but in the end, it all worked out.  Yes, I would have to say that they are not the easiest embassy to deal with.  If you front loaded your packet with good proof, you shouldn't have a problem.  They do consider if you practice the same faith, is there a language barrier & so forth.  I wish you the best in your journey.

Can be a factor, totality of the situation is what matters.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
