I am filing for AOS for K1 Visa. Our package got returned yesterday because the credit card was declined. We called the Visa company and they said it was declined for security reasons because it was such a large amount (almost 5k$ for four people). They never called to inform us and my husband was understandably ticked off. We want to resend the package today as their was no other problem cited
My question is,  can I send back the same package or do I need to make a new one (pages and pages for AOS, EAD and AP). I noticed that there are some grey numbers that have been superimposed at the bottom of all the pages.  Anyone with such an experience before?

You can send the same package back........did they also charge you an extra fee because of the declined card?

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

I am not sure of any extra fees charged but I will check with my husband.  They have also put a line using a pen across the superimposed numbers on the first two pages of each document then signed off. Is it ok to send it back the same way? Ps we got an alien number too

I would send it back as is with a check or money order is possible.  I have seen other posters who were charged a $35 fee for a declined payment......

Thank you so very much for your help. It's such a relief not to have to do all that paperwork again

OK. I believe it, but I don't know why it would be different.

After further research, it appears that USCIS will attempt to process a check 2 times.  If it is unpayable after the 2nd attempt, USCIS charges a $30 fee.    They will attempt to run a CC only once.

USCIS IT systems strike again.

A better system lets one pay by credit card online before the package is sent.  Then print the transaction record and include with the AOS packet.

But if so, VJ would be plagued with threads that “help I lost my AOS fee payment record”

Always pay by check. My lawyer paid ours using her credit card but presumably she has a right relationship with her bank and/or calls for preauth.

Now that we know,  we wish we had sent a cheque but my husband has been in contact with the company and they have assured him the cc will go through this time

Often when I have a large purchase that I plan to use a credit card (CC), and/or going on a vacation (or any charge that may be considered out of the ordinary), I will contact the credit card I plan on using, and tell them I am planning a large purchase and/or going on vacation. The CC company has asked if I know the approximate amount of the large purchase and/or the length of the vacation. They can put a notation in your file to that effect. It is generally viewed as an attempt by the CC company to protect you from possible fraudulent use of the CC.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

In retrospect,  my husband should have called them but we have done that now. Thanks for the advice
