strange change in case completion time !

I filed for citizenship in July 2018 . My field office is Baltimore.   My estimated case completion date  was July 2019 and I expected to receive the interview letter next month.

Today , I noticed that  9 months is added to the completion time (March 2020).

is it a case by case change ?  maybe my case is stuck in back ground check and not yet ready for the  interview  ?

This is not unique to your case, it is a genaralized calculation.

The date provided is the worst possible one from the processing times.

Check the processing time for your FO, it likely changed from 19-13 months to 18-20 months.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just don't make travel plans for now.

Thanks for the prompt reply

The processing time for my field office has not changed. it is 13-22 months, the same as the last month.

but the case completion time for my application  has suddenly increased!

No.  I am talking about  the case completion time in USCIS website. when you login to your account , you can see the estimated time for your N-400 application.

for my case, it was 13 months  (July 2019) but today it was changed to March 2020

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

On Thursday 5/16 many people noticed a change in their estimated case completion date. For some people things got better. For others - like those of us in NYC, Boston, Baltimore - things got worse. It's very frustrating, I know.

CITIZENSHIP TIMELINE

4/2019: Submitted N400

5/2019: Biometrics (3 weeks)

2/2020: Interview (10 months)

3/2020: Oath & naturalization (11 months)

6/2020: Passport received (3 months)

Officially a U.S. Citizen!
