When can I file for citizenship?

Hi,

 

Here's my story:

4/2016 - came to the US under K-1 visa;

7/2016 - received Green Card (the one that is valid for 2 years)

11/2017 - got divorced =(

02/2019 - received the Green Card valid for 10 years.

 

With my timeline above, when am I going to be eligible to apply for citizenship? Thank you!

You can file for citizenship based on the 5 year rule, so 7/2021.  Remember, the window opens 90 days prior to the anniversary date, so you’d be looking sometime during 4/2021.

Agreed, the 5 year rule applies here.  Look at the Residence Since date on your GC, add five years and count back 90 days.  This is when your filing window opens.  One other piece of advice, don't file on the very first day the window opens, other members have had issues with how the system dates the applications and had to deal with a rejected application for filing one day early.  I think they got a positive resolution, but it is a headache nonetheless that can easily be avoided by waiting a day or two.
