I have a Question for the ones who have filed their AOS? Ruchie and Mathew will be here June 15th and we are wanting to file the AOS before the Fees Increase! Do you think it is possible to get Married, get SSN,fill out I-435 form and all supporting Documents in time before the fee increases? We would have approximately 6 weeks to do all this after she arrives here..... It just seems like we would be really pushing it! What do you Think????:wacko:

While I haven't gotten to this point yet, I would say why not try? Do all the paperwork you can ahead of time to save yourself a lot of time. I plan on filling them out the month before my SO moves here. Good luck!

I got married 2 days after I got here but filed my AOS way later (could have done so immediately but...). Nevertheless, it was still within one month of arriving in US.

For my timeline, please refer to my husband's nick "Miwa".

Good luck!

I dont think that you are pushing it, it can be done, collect as much of your documents that you can before he gets here for AOS, you can apply for ss# 2 weeks after arrival, we did and had no trouble at all. Print the forms and fill out what you can by hand so you can transfer the infomation when its time for the real deal.

dannymartin,

I think that you can leave "get SSN" off of your list of things to do by July 1.

Yes, it is not necessary to have the SSN to file for AOS, so no need to worry about that at this point. I would also try and give it a shot if you can.

You may be able to get it in before the increase.

Sure its possible, you can only try!!!

P.S. I don't know about SSN card issue. In form DS-230 there was question about SSN, and when I come here I just went to office and they sent it to me right away, because it was issued for me already, and i get to know my number. As I didn't changed my surname yet, I never bothered myself with new one, so everything matches, my surname and my SSN.

If we pay those certain amounts, Visa Centers should work on our applications double time

this is not fair!

You will have nearly everything you need to complete the AOS package except for new passport photos, your marriage certificate and your sponsor's tax transcripts. Everything else should be easy enough to assemble and you can fill out all of the paperwork now since the information will most likely stay the same. The more you can do right now, the easier it will be when you get into the country because, believe me, you're not going to want to be spending your first week there filling out paperwork. :)

I reckon you have plenty of time to beat the fee increase... you can get just about everything ready in advance, make sure you have all the tax stuff, copies of everything you'll need (you'll obviously need to get copies of the marriage certificate ASAP after marrying), passport photos etc - you can have the whole package pretty much ready to go in advance. I'm sure it can be done - I sent off our AOS package last week, about three and a half weeks after I got here, and a week after we got married - and I could definitely have done it quicker than that if necessary!

Good luck! :)

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png
