My fiancee is subject to a two month medical hold in Vietnam.

I'm just curious if anyone else has had this issue?

My relative got similar experience several years ago (HCMC) but he was diagnosed with some lung issue (the English name for his issue could be pneumonia). He still went to his interview, got approved, but had to wait until it was treated.

...now he got heart-disease but being treated in US.

Yes, it is a lung thing. I think it's having had pneumonia previously, as it shows up on the X-ray (I had the same thing a few years ago).

She did all the follow-up tests and now I think it's just a waiting game to make sure nothing gets worse.

Yes.

HCMC is general considered as hard one (due to many frauds going on) but it is quite transparent: generally do not give false hope (verbally approve a visa then deny later) or play the black hole Administrative Processing.

Medical holds are generally because they suspect a communicable disease that would be a public health risk, usually TB or something, which is very relevant in Vietnam. Good thing is, they can all be treated and eventually it will be ok. It'll just take some time.

Yes. The two months is to make sure it is not communicable, as the body has contained the disease.

Vietnam has a very high incidence of Tuberculosis.

It can be treated, the treatment is generally 9 months.
