Hello 

I am a Canadian citizen married to an American citizen .

We live in Canada and my wife has now became a Canadian citizen now as well.

My question is after our long journey my wife and I have been on for her to become a Canadian citizen we have decided we would like to move to the USA and buy a house there for a few years.

We live on the Niagara border and want to live on the USA side but I would like to commute to my job in Canada every day.

I know we can buy the house with no issues I just am not to sure how to start the process of my self being approved to live and work in the USA when we both live in Canada.

We cross back and forth the border at least once a week with no issues I just want to arrange all paper work before we just show up at the border with a truck load of furniture saying we moving here lol.

Any information would be greatly appreciated .

Canada is notoriously strict when it comes to domicile requirements...your wife will have to reestablish America as her main domicile, considering she's been living abroad for presumably a number of years.  The visa you need would be a CR-1 to be able to reside in the US.

 

Has she been filing US taxes during the years she has been living in Canada?

 

Immigration laws differ between Canada and the US...you can't just show up at the border one day with the intention of immigrating.

Please be aware that you will also have to report and file appropriate taxes in the US for your world-wide income once you become a resident in the US..

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Sounds like it would be an IR1, makes me wonder about the logic, presumably you will not get Healthcare through your job and will have to buy it individually, that would be a major cost.

Some good answers above.  To be clear, if you the Canadian spouse wants to actually live in the USA, they will need an IR1 visa.  It takes 12 to 15 months.  Start by reading the guides.  In addition, think through all the ramifications including health insurance, etc.

 

Sure, the Canadian can commute to their job in Canada indefinitely.  That's not "working in the USA".  You need an immigrant visa to "show up (together) with a truckload of furniture".  The US Citizen can show up with as much as she wants, but not with the foreign spouse in the vehicle with her.  Buying a house is no problem.  Canadians have a six month visitor privilege but they must spend more nights in Canada than in the USA, technically.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
