It can be considered normal when using lawyer as lawyer does things when he/she has time/not busy earning more $ for other clients.  However, if do-it-yourself, then it can be one very quick. My wife and I had everything uploaded then submitted to the system after a few hours we received our case # as we had all docs ready before we received our case # and invoice #.

One of the problems with lawyers is that they are not as interested in the timeline as they are in their billing.  It is VERY common that lawyers slow this process to a crawl.  This is your life, I would take control now and get it out of the hands of the hourly lawyer.

NVC will review the civil and AoS documents within 3 weeks of submittal.  Each time they request more or a clearer copy adds 3 more weeks to the review process.  If all goes well you can receive the "Documentarily Qualified" message 3 weeks after submitting the civil and financial documents.

PHILIPPINES ONLY!!!  CFO (Commission on Filipinos Overseas) INFO - Can't leave home without it!

PDOS (Pre-Departure Registration and Orientation Seminar) is for ages 20-59.  Peer Counseling is for 13-19 years of age.

It is required to have the visa in their passport for PDOS and Peer Counseling.

GCP (Guidance and Counseling Program) is for K-1 Fiancee and IR/CR-1 spouse ONLY.

5 weeks is too long in my opinion.  Unless specific timelines are listed in your contract, you really don't have many options......I, too, found out (by experience) that attorneys don't always provide the best service....good luck.

I-864 is pretty straightforward, just read the instructions and upload the supporting financial documents.  You provided everything to the attorney already, just go ahead and upload it all yourself, it takes a couple of hours at the most, NOT five weeks!  Read the tips for scanning and uploading documents on the NVC website to make sure you do it correctly.  You're paying someone to slow the process down, which makes no sense.  You can login to CEAC and upload everything today if you want to.  Why wait for them to do it?  If you're in a hurry like most of us, do it yourself now and fire that attorney.  Good luck!

It is true! By reading the instructions and with the help of these forums the fastest processes are achieved. My experience has had good results without lawyers! But you can do it and speed up. Check your account at CEAC and follow the steps that are missing.

You should get your money back and end business with them. If they refuse refund file a compliment with the BBB and with the appropriate federal agency of fraud. I’d also write my senator and congress and whoever I can do that they think twice about taking advantage of you and others. There are too many business steeling money from people and impacting families negatively due to fraud or complacency.
