@phjs It's going to be a joint interview. They will interview you and your spouse for I-751 approval and then you will be scheduled for N-400 right after (same day). They have to approve your I-751 first before your N-400 interview. Make sure you bring your spouse and updated joint documents (ie. tax returns, apt lease, etc) with you to the interview

I filed I-751 then N-400 when I became eligible while waiting for I-751. A few days ago I got a letter saying that my N-400 interview is scheduled. The letter doesn't mention anything about I-751 at all or if my spouse should be coming to the interview with me. Is this normal? I'll still ask my wife to go with me even though the letter doesn't mention her. I'm just confused.

Yes, defnitly take your spouse. Without I 751 approval, they can't do N400 interview . If you will not go with your spouse ,they will reschedule your appointment.  But without your spouse, they wouldn't conduct interview of I 751

I just made an inquiry that my case is out of normal processing time. They said I will have a response in next 30 days..lol .

I made 2 inquiry already, one came saying background check still pending, and the second one after 2 weeks saying your application is still pending, at this time we anticipate you should receive a decision near future.

Congrats!! How was your interview?

The interview was a repeat of our first GC, however this time the IO took me in first (US Citizen). He asked me how we met, Where have you traveled together, Has she met my family, those type questions. He took some recent photos, and our tax records I brought along. My interview was about 20 minutes. He this sent me back to waiting area and my wife went back (GC holder). He asked her the same questions, told her she was approved. Then they went into the N-400 interview. Asked her 6 questions from civics question pool. She got all them right. Then she had to read a simple English sentence, and write a English sentence on a IPOD device. She had about a 40 minute interview. He told her that she passed the N-400.

We are now waiting for Oath appointment. IO said it could be up to 45 days, depends on the scheduler. We should get another letter in the mail for that appointment.

I can say the the guides from this website are awesome. I provided everything the guides listed at each step of the way in our immigration process. Also read the instructions for each form slowly and carefully. Provide everything they request. Tell the truth and try to relax at the interviews. The IO can spot BS or a fake relationship quickly. The whole process is about time and money. Have patience, and keep moving on with life.

Thanks for your reply!

Is there a chance that my I-751 might have already been approved without an interview? I just worried that the security guards won't even let my wife into the interview with me because she is not mentioned in the interview appointment letter.

Edit: never mind. I found some old post like this, which said that even though the spouse is not mentioned, IO could still want to take to them.

Only in divorce case , I 751 interview is done without spouse.  If you are not divorced then nothing will move forward without your spouse's presence . If you already schedule for N400 then 99 percent chances are they will decide on I 751 same day

Hello, everyone. I had my N400 interview this morning and would like to share my experience.

10:15 - Arrived, Checked-in.

11:30 - My name was called and the officer told my husband he can come in with me. I only had my N400 interview appointment with me and had no interview scheduled for I-751/ROC.

The officer was really nice, he explained that we were going to have 2 interviews, the first is for I-751/ROC and another one for N400. The officer asked for our passports, state IDs and my green card. Unfortunately my actual passport wasn't with me and gave him a copy instead. Also,  I wasn't asked for any other documents.

Questions asked to me:

What's your legal name? When is your birthday? What is your address? What is your Country of Citizenship and Country of birth? Do you have kids?

Questions asked to my husband and I:

Is this your first marriage? Do you have kids? How did you meet? Where do you work? How many times have you traveled outside the US in the past 4 years? Did you travel with each other?

Then we proceeded with N400 Civics and English Test and the officer told my husband not to coach me. And yes, my husband stayed with me the whole time. I got the first 6 questions right and the officer congratulated me for passing the test, however, he said I would have to wait for my I-751/ROC approval which should take 2-3 weeks.

I checked my status online when I got home. N400 status is still "Interview was Scheduled" and my I-751/ROC status changed to "New Card is Being Produced". I am hoping it means approval...

Another waiting game but still grateful that our interview went great today. We're almost there!

Good luck to everyone!

Wow. What the heck they are doing ? Did they give you a reason after inquiry?

Background check... it's what they said. I sent a mail to the senator from my state to see if I can find some help
