Mother's immigration interview in Mumbai, India

Hello,

My mother's interview has been scheduled in Mumbai, India after I filled out all the documents on CEAC.

She got her medical done today and I will book the ticket and hotel for her in a day or two.

I have a couple questions if anybody knows the answers to, I would really appreciate.

1. From what I have read, other people had to go for biometrics before the interview. The email does not mention anything about a biometrics appointment. Does that mean it is not required? 

2. Do they give the passport back the same day if approved or is it sent by mail? If they turn around in a day or two, I can book stay for her in Mumbai to pick up in person preferably.

1) Biometrics is absolutely necessary. You have to do it atleast a day before her interview. You have to book the biometrics appointment through http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ Where did she do her medical? I did mine in Hyderabad. They gave me a tiny piece of paper which stated how to book biometrics before the interview. Depending on where she did her, she may or may not have gotten that. 

2) You will choose the mode of delivery when you book for biometrics. You can choose to do self pickup or have it delivered by premium delivery at your address. It could be done in a 2 days or a week or maybe even longer but this is something that she better ask the CO after being approved.

Thank you so much for the detailed reply. The email from NVC did not mention anything about biometrics.

I will schedule an appointment soon.
