OH #######!!!!! I miss being able to file at the old rate for removal of conditions by just a few days.....

Kez

Oh, that sucks Kez! And I was feeling bad because we are missing it by just a few weeks.

You think they could grandfather those of us that are already in the system. Sigh. Oh, well, starting to save now!

I 751 - Remove conditions on your Permanent Resident status - $ 545 (filing + biometric)

...I better start saving money right now...

Wow, these things ain't cheap.

The funny thing is, the filing of this petition is not optional.

Cough up $545 or lose your status.

Yeah - that's pretty obscene IMO. If you're struggling to keep above the poverty line (as the wife and I were when we first got married) - that's serious money. What is it at the moment - $275?

Think so. We don't have a choice but to pay (somewhere in Nov) but we seriously want to see the improvement in speed for doubling the fee.

I already paid the $275 - as it was I had to forgo some work that needed doing on the car to pay for it. Given the expenses involved in the various parts of the process (already over $1000), I resent having to pay a bunch more just for the right to continue going about daily life. It stinks.

I have all these fees x2. It really sucks.

It really does. Considering the excellent service you don't get.

And that service won't improve, I'm pretty sure!

They could save money by getting rid of their misinformation hotline. Or by hiring people who are able to read (we printed our application, so no handwriting, still, they got both our address and my name wrong). How drunk was the guy who entered our info in their system?

At least now you can actually talk to an “immigration officer’ – which is what the supervisors seem to be. Still each time you’ve got to get around the incompetent first responders – who will give you different info to the supervisors.

They never let me talk to someone else - even when we inquired to talk to their supervisor they hung up on us (he said: I'll transfer you, but essentially hung up!!!).

If it's just a few days, why don't you just mail it in a few days earlier?

I don't think they'll take it. Otherwise, people could (and perceivably would) start filing sooner. USCIS gives you a 90 day window within which you are required to file. They are typically not very flexible.

My GC expires on 20 Oct, so working out the 90 day thing I can file on 23 July, do you think I would be able to get away with the old charges? I sure hope so.

You can not file before the 90th day... or your application will be rejected.... they will only accept it once the 90 days window opens....
